and not only that, the cook staff is different in every establishment, so you can't just say that a particular chain sucks. every fast food chain in NYC sucks though.

Meh. Chili's chips and salsa alone make it worthwhile to go there. Friday's has the best mozarella sticks I've ever had, hands down. No other restaurant I've eaten at, local or chain, can compare. Applebee's used to have really good parmesan pizza sticks, but I haven't seen them on the menu in a while. Now they don't really have anything to write home about, but half price appetizers after 10 p.m. make for a good late evening snack.

There are some local places I like more (if go up to Allentown much, check out Rookies near 15th and Tilgman, I love their wings), but sometimes I'm in the mood for Chili's or Friday's.

I voted Applebee's, but I don't particularly care for any on the list. I usually visit the locally owned and operated sitdown restaurant.

is o'charley's a chain? it's the only one I can think of that I've been to more than one of and never had a meal I enjoyed.

I don't think I've ever been to benigans, it's been more than 15 years since I've even seen a black eyed pea, I've only been to a red robin once.. I haven't been to fridays in years but I'd go again, if there was one handy.. chili's isn't my favorite place but I usually manage to find something I'm willing to eat there.. applebees and chilis each have at least one thing I really enjoy on the menu so.. I'll go there any time someone invites me (or is willing to go with me). I did once go to an olive garden out of town that disappointed everyone in the party, but the one here is always tasty.

so.. I guess I'll vote "other", with that other being o'charley's. is ruby tuesday not on this list because everyone likes it?

Heh. This was my first impulse when I read the OP as well. He knows Applebees sucks, but he keeps going back. Obviously an idiot who likes misery.

Personally, I don't like any of those restaurants, except Red Robins which IME always has good burgers with good service.

Hmm. AppleBee has the most votes so far. Just out of curiosity, how's the business at your local AppleBee? Packed with waits usually or not crowded and can get seat anytime? It's been years since I last went to AppleBee but one in my neighborhood seems to do decent business. But I'm wondering if Bar & Grill restaurant business is on the decline.

I have been to Red Lobster twice and both times the restaurants smelled like the time the local fish monger did not get their dumpster emptied before a four day holiday weekend. And quality of the food in both restaurants was really poor.

I have not eaten in a Red Lobster since.
