one of the best bits in Top Gear. Glad it is getting more views. First time I saw it, it was playing on my netbook while on a 10 hour flight to Hawaii. I laughed so loud that I woke up half the people there
 
The design was flawed, however the thinking behind buying a three-wheeled car was to benefit from a loophole in UK vehicle licensing and tax:

These were all over England in the 1970's, including some swoopier, more futuristic and cool looking versions.
