World's talest skyscraper will be a residential building

its pretty awful to live on such a high floor, I was recently at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai (tallest hotel in the world) and was on the 85th floor for 3 days. Having to change elevators and experience the pressure change is not my idea of a fun time.

Yes the view is great, but I don't think its worth the trouble and yea i bet its d*ck expensive.

I dont believe any of the 19 hijackers were from the UAE.

I would go as far as to say the UAE is one of the only countries thats actually investing their oil money wisely to build themselves a future after the oil money runs dry.

Very few other nations in the ME do this. (not none, before someone gos correcting me)

Your M.E statement is kind of correct regarding oil.

Not many M.E nations rely on oil (population-wise)

Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Israel have no oil revenue.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Iran, Iraq need oil for revenue.

Saudi Arabia is a shithole that has Islamic laws. Nobody wants to go to S.A other than Muslims for Mecca.
Iran is a shithole that has Islamic laws. Nobody wants to go to Iran other than foreign Iranians

UAE, Kuwait, Qatar are all very small nations that can benefit by bringing in tourism and industry. They will survive when oil runs out. They do not have strict rules that will conflict with the value's of people from the West.
UAE should be down to only 40% dependent on oil for income. Next year it should be 32%.
Qatar and Kuwait are following by trying to build new buildings to attract tourism.

Saudi Arabia is following too. They are making their kings and queens richer so when the oil runs out they can have a nice mansion in beverly hills.
 
Damn I wish our country had the cash to just burn like the UAE does-- Dubai especially. First the palm-tree shaped man-made island, then the "world replica" where they make 193 small islands in the persian gulf in a physical representation of the world, and now they want to build the tallest building in the world. T_T
 
I can't seem to find the link, but I remember reading an article about how much time is wasted just in elevator time in such tall building. They mentioned that somebody working at the top of the Sears Tower would spend like 3 weeks worth of time over the course of 5 years(don't remember exact number) just going up and down the elevators.

 
I don't think I'd like to live in such a tall building either, at least not on the upper floors. I like living close to the ground.
