I like VWs for some reason, lol..

My first car is going to be a '69 VW Bug Type4(porsche engine) conversion. 😉 If I could just find a job.. Damn Oregon's economy... :disgust:

C'mon, this thing is an embarrasment to the VW Phaeton. First off, the base engine should be from the W-family and not a V6. Secondly, how on earth do you see 241hp and 232lbs/ft of torque scooting this thing around? I don't see any V6 A8's, 7-series, S-classes, or LS430's currently offered. Weren't those cars the intended competition?



 
Hmm, mebbe this is why VW lowered production a bit... to make "room" for this?
I like the 4-motion option... always cool to have AWD. How come nobody has mentioned the Q? A lot of people consider it a better car than the LS430.

But DANG, W-12... I guess VW really wants to move into the ranks of the other German automakers. First a supercar, and now this? I thought VW owns Audi... so aren't they going to compete for the same space?

Theres been alot of talk around the vw forums that VW will become the 'high end luxury' cars while audi will become their 'sports car' line... I'll see if i can find any links to share...
 
Its really beautiful but way outta my price range. I will stick to my A1s. If I had the $$$, I'd get the TDi. Did you see the cabin shots, whatta interior! The outside looks good too.
 
wv is undoubtably my varorite automanufacturer... that new couple they put out in europe under skoda is awesome... if only they'd bring some of that stuff over here!

Hey everybody, we have someone here who doesn't know what he's talking about!

Seriously, have you ever driven a modern TDI-engine before? Or even been aboard one? Those things are smooth and quiet. Many people don't know that they are in a diesel-car untill the owner tells them.

In the past diesels were more crude. But in Europe they have advanced ALOT in recent years. For all intents and purposes they are just as good as gasoline-engines, maybe even better (with their superior torque and economy)!

Are you one of those who think "Oh, that car is *insert brand here*, it can't be good...". I look at each car at their own merits, I don't decide in advance that it sucks just because it's made by some particular brand. Cadillacs can suck (I remember one Top Gear road-test in particular...), Fords can be good. I personally could get excited over a Yugo, if they made a car that was as good a BMW 5-series for example. Just because VW has been making "normal" cars until recently does it mean that their luxury-sedan will automatically suck? Or that their new sports-car (which just recently broke several speed-records) can't be good?

In Europe, Diesel is much cheaper than Unleaded Fuel.
 
I haven't found the weight on this car, just the LXWXH. Anyone know? I'm guessing around 4,100lbs with the W12.

benz offers a v6 with their flagship S-class... it provides adequate if not soul stirring performance..
 
By the time this thing hits the US market my 2000 Passat will be ready to go to my wife. Looks like my new car will be prety cool that is if I can afford it.................................

Man, I like how VW has changed the exterior design around the rear and sides of the car. Looks pretty nice, wouldn't mind being 'forced' to drive one!

Yeah, I was just going to post about that. I've never really hard of a W- engine.

I'm having problems visualizing it.. Hmm.. by the description.. so it's basically two V6s put together like.. VV, eh? lol.. Interesting..

At first I was thinking that it had like, 4 cylinders slanted on the left, 4 cylinders in the middle, and 4 cylinders slanted on the right. That visualization didn't seem quite right to me, though... lol

The W-X<---insert #cyl is only a marketing term. The engines V angle are super narrow almost looks like a inline engine, visually they[edit: pistons] look like a W. The turbo diesel V10 is about the sexiest engine I can imagine for a big sedan.
