<< Hmm, mebbe this is why VW lowered production a bit... to make "room" for this?
I like the 4-motion option... always cool to have AWD. How come nobody has mentioned the Q? A lot of people consider it a better car than the LS430.

But DANG, W-12... I guess VW really wants to move into the ranks of the other German automakers. First a supercar, and now this? I thought VW owns Audi... so aren't they going to compete for the same space?
>>

Theres been alot of talk around the vw forums that VW will become the 'high end luxury' cars while audi will become their 'sports car' line... I'll see if i can find any links to share...
>>

Hmm, that still doesn't explain why VW label would have the supercar... and Audi still have the SportCross... though the Audi TTR does fit into "sports car" theory. Strangely... Audis as "sports cars" have been few and far between...

Tonight my wife and I were driving over to her parents house in her new 2002 passat 1.8t wagon (they have a big screen, the lakers were on and they are out of town).

A ricer passes me in the right lane and then gets in my lane just before we reach a red light.

I say to my wife... "should I take him?" To my suprise, she answers... "ya, go get him!!" He takes off from the light and gets a liitle ahead of me. Then I hit the gas, hear that turbo kick in and get in the right lane. He sees me coming and hits the gas hard, but it's too late... I blow past him up a fairly steep hill going about 90 (no traffic or houses anywhere around). I get back in the left lane and casually come to a stop at a red light at the crest of the hill. He tailgates me for a few streets before I turn off and flicks his lights.

Boy I love that passat.

"benz offers a v6 with their flagship S-class... it provides adequate if not soul stirring performance"

Ummm NO.

I stand by my statement.
"I don't see any V6 A8's, 7-series, S-classes, or LS430's currently offered. Weren't those cars the intended competition?"

Look for yourself.

S-class Merc is available with inline-6 engine in Europe. So just because americans look down on big car with engine like that, europeans do not.

Duetschland corrects my statement!
