I wonder how long it'll be before DC sues VW over the use of the name "Phaeton".
Most corporations such as Chrysler would be smart enough to trade mark the brand
names of the concept vehicles they produce. If they're willing to sue Hummer over grille
designs...


I'd take an S8 over a glorified Passat anyday of the week.

Big mistake. Why in the world have the car debut with a V6 and a W12? Makes horrible marketing sense. Maybe it will increase the volume of the car's sales, but at the prestige expense of the Phaeton, which is already questionable. Engine choices should have been a W8 and a W12. How does VW expect a 3.2L V6 to tote around this yacht?

Agreed! Considering that you can get the Passat with the W8, offering a V6 is just plain stupid on this big mofo.

I don't know if "Phaeton" can be trademarked--it's essentially just means "sedan" and it's been used as the name of a few cars over the years. It's not much different than "Cabriolet" or "Spyder."

You guys need to read the article, if you haven't, before you pass judgement. It looks like an amazing car!

Yeah, I was just going to post about that. I've never really hard of a W- engine.

I'm having problems visualizing it.. Hmm.. by the description.. so it's basically two V6s put together like.. VV, eh? lol.. Interesting..

At first I was thinking that it had like, 4 cylinders slanted on the left, 4 cylinders in the middle, and 4 cylinders slanted on the right. That visualization didn't seem quite right to me, though... lol

Hmm.. The V6 may be puny compared to the W12, but it's certainly no weakling. It won't have any problems moving that car around.

With the W12, you'd be hopping from light to light.. :Q
