WoW gets old fast. Once you hit 60, nothing left to do except grind 20 or 40 man raids to collect epics that'll be obsolete when the expanision comes out.

As long as Blizz keeps making $$ though, i'm sure it'll be the same old. Just waiting for a game with a little bit more depth to come out.

And, to the person who brough it up, thank God the WoW crafting system is simple. I don't think I could handle the button clicking madness entailed in most other 'complex' mmorpgs. Please don't bring up DAOCs introduction to carpal tunnel crafting system.

Regardless of preference, my argument was that WoW is not complex. Are you turning around & agreeing with me now? ;)

Hah, I've never said that WoW was complex and I challenge you to find a quote that shows otherwise. My stance all along pretty much boils down to WoW being the game that combines elements of all other mmorpgs and makes them FUN. But then again I would also argue that WoW is not necessarily 'easier' than other massives. It is just less annoying. Is it 'easier' to level in WoW than EQ? Sure. But is that because it just takes a lot longer killing the same creature over and over in EQ? Yup.

The quote in which you seemed to take that stance was this one:

I've played them all, in some form or fashion, and I can't think of any aspect of any mmorpg that I miss right now other than Shadowbane's city building/ownership.

Anyway, preferences obviously differ greatly. Personally I like a more complex and open-ended game for various reasons I won't get into here, since it'd be off-topic.

Ah, but my meaning in that quote was that no massive is truly complex. Depth is pretty much in the eye of the beholder. Some people will claim that EQ was the hardest game ever yet all you had to do was find a camp and sit there forever until you leveled and then move along to the next one.

I agree though that these games generally boil down to personal preference. I'd prefer to play something other than WoW but there's really nothing else that catches my eye at this time. Here's to hoping Darkfall doesn't suck.

.

Skill-based "leveling" like UO (to gain swordsmanship you hit things with a sword, etc.)
Open PvP everywhere (even if town, but guards will be hard to avoid, but it isnt' an instant kill)
Full looting of items
skill-based combat similar to FPS (based on game called Mount and Blade, you can DL the demo)
Siege warfare and battles over land ownership/etc.
"Uber" mean 5% increase in damage or stat, nothing big, and crafters will make the majority of items.

It's basically for people that see through games like WoW for being boring and repetitive, but full-looting PvP chaos isn't for everyone obviously.

Heh, you never did any EQ post-PoP raiding, did you? The events they keep coming up with are great.

Full-looting PvP is one of the main reasons I'm looking forward to the game. It should help balance the risk/reward aspect of the game and this should help keep a lot of the fps kiddies out. I play fps's so that isn't as general a bash as you all might assume. :p
