I tossed my bro this link. He's highly resistant to this type of crack since he plays about 4 other games -__-;;

You'll get a corrupted file unless you use WinZip to extract it. Stupid, I know.

Just d/l WinZip and it'll be okay.

Lvl 11 now.

I'll download this, buy a Sony CD and by Day 14, I should be able to sell off a super high level character.

1) This game is more addicting than cocaine.
2) I haven't even had the game a year yet, and I've spent enough time playing that I could have cured cancer. Something like.... 3 months playing time?

My list of chars:
48 warrior
47 warrior
42 rogue
42 mage
39 priest
35 druid
29 druid
27 mage
25 shammy
22 warlock

Not to mention about 100 other alts between level 10-20.

Like I said before, save yourself while you still can. :)

Thats like.. hmm, 3 weeks real world time with those characters. The halfway mark through the game is when you get your character to level 48. Anyone an di mean ANYONE can make a character and get it to level 25 within 2 days play time if not less.

Ditto.

They say that: "Look for the button to cancel your billing."

I can't find it. I guess because I'm still on a trial. So how am I supposed to unsubscribe? I already sent an email yesterday. Though no reply yet. I hope it didn't go in the spam bin.

I like WoW I just started playing with this trial but cant see shelling out $30-$50 bucks just to have one month free and have to start paying $15 a month. I started city of heroes similarly earlier this year with a 14day trial and was able to continue playing/paying after the trial without buying retail software and I also believe coh is a better game check it out.

Do they have a policy against debit cards? Because for some reason my card isn't going through for verification for the trial :(

These games aren't really my type, and this one doesn't seem that great. Starting off I have no idea what to do, I'm getting killed by spiders and wolves, and I had some lamer put me on their "ignore" list for ignoring them (go figure). I'm going to stick to FEAR where stuff dies when I shoot it.

Now.... to figure out how to cancel my monthly fee or whatever.

I'm suprised you gave up so easily. Normally I'll play a game for a few weeks and stop playing it on any regular basis after that. But for me, part of what makes WoW fun to play is how much variety there is to it.
My first character was an absolute b**ch to learn enough to get through the first few levels. Once I learned, things were a lot easier. Now, starting a new character is just a manner of learning what skills it has.
Also the game has a lot more end game things to do. When you hit the current max level of 60 things have only just begun. There are skills to max, battlegrounds, quests, you name it.
As for people it's part of what makes things interesting. Yeah there can be jerks but there are plenty of interesting people to talk to also.
Coming from someone who used to swear they would never pay for a mmorpg, I'd have to say it's well worth the $13-$15 a month to play this game.

I noticed this at the bottom of the download page (under the GET PREMIUM WHATEVER button):

Note that to create a World of Warcraft Trial Account, a Credit Card is required for verification purposes only. Your card will not be charged. If you wish to continue playing after the trial you will need to purchase a retail copy of the game.

Which is good, but kind of annoying if you actually want to keep playing. Seems like losing $35 would be worth hooking people for fifteen a month.

There no need to worry you will not be billed, you couldn't be billed until you bought the retail version. You can just let your account expire and nothing will happen. Thats what I let happen before. :)

The WOW disc demo disc is in this month's (Dec.) Maxim magazine. Save yerself the headache of a DL. Includes trial key. Just came in the mail as I started my DL.

AND it's the 14 day trial, not just 10.

I downloaded the trial, and I've been playing pretty solid for a week.

I'm torn; on the one hand, I find the game to be pretty amazing, and I can now see why there is a monthly sub fee: they've put a great amount of work into the game, and it appears they continue to develop and improve it. The game is pretty open-ended; when you're tired of the preset quests, you can always band together with friends and go PvP (player vs. player). So, for those reasons, I'd be happy to buy and subscribe to this game. I've been putting in at least a few hours each night on it since I started a week ago.

On the other hand, this game is dangerously addictive. I've noticed over the past week that I've neglected my chores and my sleep, and I've spent time on the game that I otherwise should be spending with my family (wife and 3 kids). This game is a time vampire. At this point, I don't know if my play frequency would taper off as the "newness" factor wears off, or if my absorption into the game would just become worse.

Great deal on the free trial, and now that the game is only $30, it's not a bad deal for the retail version, either. That said, I'm still debating whether or not to purchase and renew.

It comes as a insert between pages 48 and 49. If it's not there, you got jacked.

The download or trial version inside Maxim magazine (Dec. issue with Cindy Crawford on cover) works for both PC and Mac OS X.
