What a great game. To get maximum enjoyment, have a friend join and play along. My brother and I use Skype to talk while we play.

Also, know that you can find a trainer to give you new abilities on every EVEN level. (Level 2, 4, 6...) Make sure you get them! There are a lot of beginner guides on the bigger gaming sites like Gamespot.com. Make sure you check those out. They'll give you the basics of the game, as there isn't much of a beginner tutorial. For the longest time I was wondering when my priest was going to learn to wear heavy armor like a DnD Cleric.... (They DONT!) :)

As for the game being boring, the zones for new characters are made to be PAINFULLY easy. There are bigger challenges just a few towns away. :)

FYI, there are LOTS of ways to play the games.
If you are anti-social, you can play through the missions solo and have a great time.
If you like micro-management you can play the Auction House and buy-low sell-high.
You can spend endless hours crafting stuff and selling it on the AH...
You can group with people and do the missions.
You can duel with people on your own side.
You can attack the enemy players (PVP)
You can play Capture The Flag. (PVP)
You can play Capture Points-style games. (PVP)
You can do high level instances/raids on big tough creatures and dungeons.

And more... You shouldn't get bored if you have a lot of time to pour into the game... :)

And the things that make this game stand out from Everquest:
No harsh penalties for death. If you die, you can revive at a graveyard and are weakened for a few minutes or run to your corpse and revive for no penalty. You receive a small ding to the endurance on your equipment, but that's it.

If you are in an Inn or major city when you log out, your character will "rest" and receive double experience while in the "rested" state. Makes it easier to catch up with friends if you miss a few days. I like to play a few characters so the others are always resting.

And as far as beginner characters go, the easier (IMO) classes for beginners to play are Warriors, Rogues, Hunters, and Mages. The others aren't much harder, and people will probably disagree with me... :)

Eep.. I wrote too much. :) Give it a try! It's not a twitch-based FPS or fast paced as Diablo, but it every bit as immersive. (If not tenfold) By far the best game I have ever played, and I'm a hard core gamer and loves games of every type.

5 minutes?

Took almost 5 hours for me at, if I remember correctly, 154 kpbs.

Played until I got to level 4. I have no idea what to do. I'm just running around killing things. Kinda boring right now, but I'll play some more and see if things get better.

Glad I decided to try out this 10 day trial before buying the game.

Q10637 - FAQ: Are there special Trial servers or am I playing with regular World of Warcraft players?

There are no special servers. Your experience during the trial is on the same servers as standard players with a few minor restrictions.

The few minor restrictions are you can only get up to lvl 20, no trading with players and no auctions, and something minor about chat, but you can still chat to ppl locally and within a party.

What are the few minor restrictions please?

On a trial account you can't talk on the channels (looking for group, trade, general, local/world defense) but you can use the whisper, tell, say, party, and raid commands, like jaguar said. I had a trial account before I upgraded and it gets really annoying only being able to watch the channels.

When you rest, a small marker creeps up on your experience meter. The longer you're resting the father it goes. You gain double experience while you're within that zone when you resume adventuring...

Okay. Now the game's starting to get interesting.

I'm at Lvl 10 now. The game gets more interesting as you play... particularly if you do the quests.

I think I'm starting to get addicted.

i still dont like the fighting element nor the fact it takes forever to run everywhere...

Do you have to buy the software to continue after the trial, or not?

I've been searching everywhere and cannot find a definitive answer on this. Thanks!

I am disappointed. The graphics are "cartoonish", the voice overs= silly. I can't believe it is so popular. I at least expected it to look good.

What are you talking about WoW has some of the best graphics of any MMORPG. You obviously haven't played other online role playing games. Try something like Dark age of Camolet and you will laugh at how bad the graphics are (and gameplay) compared to WoW.

Let's see, genious... I've played Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and City of Heroes. I've seen DAOC, and yes, they're cartoonish too.

Initially, the massive changes (aka nerfs) in City of Heroes and now Star Wars Galaxies drove me to this free trial with open arms. But after about a week of intermittenly playing WoW, I find it really dull. The scenery and background certainly is pretty, but the game itself is rather dull. The classes offered are just limited. I really enjoyed playing a bard in EQ, and there is nothing of similarity in WoW. The sound, movements, game mechanics in general just lacks excitement _IMO_.

Maybe having seen what D&D Online will be offering jaded my point of view. Just my 0.02 USD.
