Agree with Brazil & Argentina, but I think you give too much credit to the other teams. Uruguay & Chile should not be underestimated. Both are solid teams that can easily cause an upset, especially on South American soil.

Not only that they CAN, they HAVE and WILL cause upsets.

Columbia has been strong in qualifying as well!!!

In general, World Cup is not the best/most exciting football (as much as many people think it is). Bunch of random players from random clubs trying to play together.

It's not always pretty.

it certainly is not the most entertaining.

Club level is where the quality football is at. English premier league is the best IMO. And of course tons of quality in Champions/Europa leagues.

Spanish/Italian league is a hit/miss on quality and entertainment.

Bundesliga is REALLY coming up on that end and might even surpass BPL soon.....

But in general, English football is by far the most entertaining.

It seems like there's more scoring in the EPL than there used to be. Especially clubs that rhyme with Lanchester City.

Could not believe that 6-0 licking of Tottenham.

WC is not exciting because of the quality of the football, but because it's an event where even non-football regulars become passionate about supporting a team. It's also only every 4 years and the action is neatly packed into a full month.

The football in the Bundesliga is quality and very entertaining, I agree. But I still don't get as excited about it compared to EPL because I don't know the teams/players much (outside of Bayern & Dortmund).

No doubt the best quality football is played in the Champions League...

Yep, I think last season all kinds of scoring records were broken.

The best thing about EPL is the high temp and pure quality of football they play. It's just amazing. Some games they run back and forth for 1.5 hours and they run even harder at the end, just nuts.

I watch it on weekly basis and there is ALWAYS a great game going on. I remember few weekends back I had a whole Sat to watch games and ended up watching 4, each game was better than the other.

EPL is where it's at. Doesn't get much better than that. Since I started watching it on regular basis I even find some Champion league games to be boring at times.

World cup is mostly snooze fest as lot of these players don't play together and just don't have that chemistry that is developed with time.

I like the comment in the link:

and for the 2014 World Cup, the USA draws Germany, Ghana, Portugal, 2010 Spain, the 1985 Chicago Bears, and the Monstars from Space Jam.

Ha..who do you guys like?

I'm a Liverpool fan. Suarez, Sturrage, Gerrard....

I do like Messi (although I hate Barca).....Lewandowski, Robben. Too many to list.

The new Belgian kid on Man U (Januzai? I think) is one to watch out for. Kid is pretty amazing, 18 years old and playing on Man U.

He might be the next superstar.....

I would probably go as far as saying EPL is better quality/more consistent quality.

Early stages of Champions league can be boring (heck even later stages). But as it gets closer to the finals it does get better.

EPL always seems to be good.

I'm a Liverpool fan also...YNWA! Suarez is simply on fire recently. The reason I said Uruguay can upset is mostly because of Suarez, and Cavani.

Yeah, the WC is much easier for the casual American sports fan to understand. Club football with all the different leagues, champions league, relegations and promotions, players being sold and loaned, takes some getting used to.

The football might not be as good, but I still enjoy watching guys like Messi and Rooney play for their countries.

The EPL is certainly most entertaining. Unfortunately, winning in football is sometimes more easily achieved by being boring. You can run around all day creating chances, but if you can't defend a corner you'll lose in the CL.

Ha..who do you guys like?

I mainly only watch La Liga and the EPL. I like Messi, Iniesta, Pedro, Kompany, Ramos, Juan Mata. I don't know, I'm sure there are more, but those guys popped in my head.

Not really, unless you use Spain as a rule. That's the reason I hate Spain, always boring....ALWAYS.

Yeah, even though they don't score much I actually like watching them knock the ball around. It drive me bananas when I play and people on my team try these wild service balls when easy passes to work the ball up the field are available.
