This is my current playlist for my morning cardio runs. I use Runners Playlist to insert an audio cue every 5 minutes so that I know where I am time-wise.

1. Static/Lil Wayne - Lollipop
2. Nelly/Fergie - Party People
3. Eminiem/Funk Soul Brother Mashup
4. Mark Moore Dream Theater - Lose Yourself Mashup
5. Beastie Boys&RATM - The New Style/Bulls on Parade Mashup
6. Dust Brothers Fight Club Sdtrk - This Is Your Life (Feat. Taylor Durden)
7. Prodigy - Smack my Bitch up
8. Godsmack - Awake

What are you guys listening to? Suggestions?

I listen to progressive house/trance mixes when I do cardio for longer periods (30+ minutes). I prefer the continous/building style of those genres as it passes the time fast and kind of locks me into a 'trance' where I am not focusing on the work as much. For HIIT I listen to faster trance music or sometimes no music depending. I want to get a smaller clip style MP3 player for running and lifting.

i listen to audiobooks when i do cardio as they do a great job of distracting me. i don't listen to anything while weight lifting, as i need 100% of my focus.

Anything high-tempo with an "aggressive" beat. My overall playlist is very broad, so my workout sublist is too...you'll find rock, rap, trance, etc. The only real uniting factor is the underlying beat style. There's a few rap songs on there that don't have as fast of a beat, but still have a fairly aggressive style, such as DMX - What's My Name and Eminem - The Way I Am

If I'm not watching a movie or tv show, I like stuff with a fast beat. My musical tastes are all over the place because there's a lot of different bands I like, for example:

No Doubt
Metallica
Will Smith
Eve 6
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Reel Big Fish
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Breaking Benjamin
3 Doors Down

So kind of a mix of older ska, pop/punk, rock, and alternative I guess. I also like a variety so sometimes I just listen to the radio.

Yeah I listen to audiobooks once in awhile too, they're really nice if you don't have to focus on your cardio like if you're on a bike or elliptical.

When I'm working out, I'm trying too hard not to pass out from exhaustion to even notice that music is playing at all (unless it's a heavy lifting day, of course).

So when doing cardio, do you guys start out with slower/calmer music and ramp up or just start out full-throttle? I have to get a slow beat going then ramp up or I kill my pace.

I usually don't listen to anything because I don't really enjoy having wires/an mp3 player hanging on me during workouts. If I'm working out at home I have a TV/stereo where I'll put on movies while I'm doing cardio (a great distraction for running) or music for lifting. My taste in music is pretty eclectic but I'll usually listen to either metal/rock or hip-hop when I'm lifting.
