imo fortrann is an UGLY language...

Well, FORTRAN was the first, so it was quite a learning experience.

Are there any regression tests you can use to verify that your Ada program does what their FORTRAN program did? If there aren't, start writing them as you first job, as translation is never as straightforward as you think and you will add bugs (and possibly remove bugs that the code depends on.)

If you have good tests, you may find it easier to write to them as a specification than to attempt to directly translate the code.

You might also look for programs that will do the translation for you. There are FORTRAN to C compilers out there, but I don't know about FORTRAN to Ada.

i do have programming experience mostly from college.
I have done VB for them since i started, that was the reason i was hired was to do programming. so i did that on a daily.

i also know c, c++, sql, pl/sql
