so at my internship today they gave me a program in Fortran77 and wants me to convert the entire thing to Ada.

This is my first time ever working the two languages.
i don't know Fortran
I don't know ada.

there are 8,066 lines of codes, including comments.

considering that i don't know either, this might take me a while.

fun fun fun!!:(

Sounds like real-world working conditions ; boss sends you to do something you've never done before and have to learn how to by yourself.

Um, you're getting paid right now and you've decided not to work until the next time you come in? I know it sucks to be given a job that you don't know how to do, but you've basically got two options:

1) Not doing it -- Go to management and say "sorry, this isn't what I was hired for because I don't know how to do it."
2) Doing it -- Start learning. You've got a huge task ahead of you and you're on the clock, so get working.

Pick one and do it.

Now.

;) :p

that's a decent wage for an intern, stop complaining!

Is the code well-commented?

Sound riveting. Let me know when you get to the car chase. That's the best part of the book.

Could be they're giving you a job they know will take you forever in order to get you out of the way, or could be they're just trying to test your resourcefulness.

Either way I say go here and get a quote for having it translated. If it's cheap just have it done out of your own pocket and put it on the bosses desk tomorrow.

That would REALLY fvck with him.

You can't be reading that book and reading AT at the same time. Pick one (reading AT or the book for your JOB that's giving you a PAYCHECK) and do it.

Now.

;) :p
