Woot up to 100lbs bench pressing

I know it doesnt sound like a huge accomplishment but going from completely disabled only being able to bench 65lbs up to 100lbs in 3 weeks is a huge accomplishment for me. I am working out muscles that havent been used in 10 years. I know its kind of lame thread but I am proud of myself and I want to announce it. I am passed my goal by 1 week and 20lbs. My original goal was 80lbs in 30 days 110lbs in 60 and 130 in 90 days. I am going to edit my goal for the time being. 130lbs in 30 more days 150lbs in 60. If I could do that I would be awesome for my health. I am attempting to do this with 4 hernated disk. And yes my doctor knows I am benching/working out my body. So they are aware. I also have a physical therapist coming to my home to help me work out my body.

Now I just need to figure out how to work out my lower back in a safe way so I can learn to walk in great distances again. Right now I can barely walk around a walmart without extreme pain. Half the time I have to ride around in the little electric cart because of my back. When I feel really good I actually walk around walmart. (This is when my depression isnt bad. When I have a good day) (Its a different story completely just dont want someone comparing 2 different threads and say it doesn't add up) I go through these spells of extreme depression where I cant even leave my bed room for more then 5-10mins without getting extremely anxiety (passing out type of anxiety) So some times I am fine and other times its so horrible I cant do anything. Working out does help my depression thou It helps release endorphins.

Well thats it. I am proud of myself and I really hope if I contiune doing this that I will get stronger and stronger. I do a different workout routine then what I am supposed to because of my back. See I cant do multi sets in a row. I have to wait time inbetween each set because If I dont my back kills me. So I will do 10-15 reps then wait 30mins to 1h then I do another 10-15 reps. I do this 5-10 times a day. It seems to be working really well for me so far. I wouldnt recommened it to anyone its very time consuming and not the right way to do it at all.

as well you should be!

Don't feel bad about posting about an accomplishment you know you've put hard work in to achieve. if you look through the other threads, you know we're at all different levels and are here to help/support (for the most part 🙂 )

Congrats, I also recently made it to 120lbs after not benching for 2 months, I was shocked when I was able to lift it. Anyway's I wish you the best on your journey.

Good job man. Keep it up. The only way that's "not the right to do it way at all" is being unsafe.

Hopefully the therapist can help with that. Good luck!

Ty everyone. I will post again when I hit 130lbs. My next goal. I hope it will be under 30days. I bet I could do even more if I had to but I dont want to push myself to hard to fast.

Good job dude! As you progress, make sure you're doing some sort of pulling exercise too; bent over rows are ideal.

Keep up the good work.

Nice job man! I started at like 85 pounds and manage to work up to 255. Then I took a few years off and now I'm flabby and lazy 🙂

But this thread is about you, not me.....so congrats and keep up the good work! Sounds like you took a lot of advice from people regard diet and suggested workouts so way to keep an open mind.

I still feel bad I couldnt listen to the main one about lifting. To do multi sets in a row. I wish my back could handle it but as of yet it cant. Who knows thou maybe in a month or so I can.

Thanks again for the kind words guys again I will update when I hit 130lbs my next goal set. Hopefully in less then a months time

congrats, I just got a gym membership, and I think I'm about where you started at. If I can hit 100lbs in 3 weeks I'll be happy as hell.

Damn dude. That's dedication. It's never about how much weight you do, but how the quality of the reps. The most important thing is that you're actually there doing something. The back sucks trying to find exercises that work and don't cause discomfort. I had spinal fusion a year ago and I still can't lift very heavy or long.

That sucks man having a fusion sucks ass. I feel your pain

Yeah it does. Keep at your routine and keep us updated. doing great!

are you able to lift at all. With the fusion. I dont know what you are capable with a disk fusion. If you are you should try my routine. Doing 5-10 sets a day over a 16 hour period. It really seems to be helping me get back into shape. I remember when 65 lbs was a lot and after I warmed up those musles I was able to do much more without any problems. The biggest thing for me with the bad back is the breaks that I need to take and taking my time doing it right. Hands at shoulder length bend elbows to 45 degrees then bring bar down to right under t he nipples not the neck. I had alot of shoulder pain till I learned the correct form of benching.

If anyone knows good work outs I can do for my lower back I would love to hear them. Like I said before I have 2 different weight sets. one on a bench one on the floor and then I have hand weights to work with

Congrats on beating your goals man!

Just curious though, what was your condition exactly? (you mentioned being disabled and not using certain muscles for 10 years)
