Woot!! Saw a BMW Mini Cooper yesterday...so sweet!! :)

NFS4

No Lifer
I saw a blue one in the parking lot of my friend's church yesterday on our the way to the 11:15 service. Instead of going to worship as we (they) should have been doing, there was a crowd of about 10 people or so swarming it.

It was blue with a black top and it had the five-spoke alloy rims on it (Like this this, only that it was blue.). I about died when I saw it😛 It is SO FRIGGEN SMALL!! It is 14 inches SHORTER than a Miata!!!!! $20k for a BMW (Cooper S) which is chock full of features is a steal if you ask me😉

Man oh man I have to have one now. I'll take mine Silver with white top with 17" wheels like this one..

Does NE1 have any links for reviews on the new Mini?? The only one I could find were these:

W00t!! Saw a BMW Mini Cooper last month at the auto show...so overpriced!! 🙁

They are a lot of cash for what you get compared to some of the competition but I bet they are pretty nice inside and drive well.

Well, considering that you can get things that the competition doesn't even offer at the $20k range, I'd say it's a great deal.

<< How were the Mini Cooper crash test results?

If you're serious about getting one, I'd stick with your original 5 door pocket rocket choices.

Pfft!

The GTI 1.8T isn't even on that list. It would waste all of those other cars, and do it in style. 😉😀

The Mini would run circles around any of those mofos😉 And it is just COOL😀 As for safety, it should do very well. It has a structure that is 150% stronger than the 3-Series and has front, side, and head airbags.

Well safety on something so damn small could be a big issue, but otherwise those are pretty good features for $20k. Not a bad amount of horsepower. You could buy a high-end sentra or a golf 1.8 or something, but then where's the fun in that? Of course everyone and their stupid mom will be driving one of these in no time... well somepeople will say they are too small but it will find its trendy niche market.

oh it's a BMW!!~

i saw one of those on the road and i was like "wtf is that thing" lol

19g's for a bimmer?

sounds like a yuppie car hahaha 😉

I personally think after a while the noveltry will run out and you'll wish you had bought something more practical (e.g. larger).

It's the next New Beetle.

Mark my words.

I think you'll EAT your words. There has always been a market for the Miata...and there will be for the Mini. The Mini is to FWD cars as the Miata was to small RWD convertibles in the early 90's

The Mini is a ground up new model with a specific purpose. It has a modified 3-Series rear suspension, its own engine lineup, and is quite unique. It has plenty of features and is VERY customizeable. Since it doesn't have to share it's platform with any other vehicles, it was built to suit its own needs.

And it will most likely be THE best handling FWD chassis on the planet (discplacing the Focus/RSX/Civic R).

Remember, the New Beetle is a Golf in new clothes and the PT Cruiser is a Neon in disguise. The Mini is its own car with BMW tuning/engineering/backing. Much more credible than V-dub or Chrysler

I like it, but I'm affraid its too small for me ( 6'4"). Last time I was at an autoshow I tried to squeeze into a Miata and I could barely do it (after much effort).

Also, price seems high for such a small car, but I guess the features compensate for that.

I don't hear people complaining about the price of the Miata (which is more expensive than the Mini and doesn't have nearly as many features).

When did these things come out? I have yet to see one. These remind me of the 318ti, which was a huge failure. BMW is once again venturing into the compact market, and I think they will be more succesful. What do you guys think of the Mercedes hatchback, the C230. I think it retails in the mid 20's. The link is here. This is more my style, because that Mini really is mini!

The 318ti was a failure here in the US but it did well (and still does) in Europe. The C230K looks like ass to me, worst Mercedes design in the family. Doing a pricing quote on a C230K brings up a base price of $25,615 with no options.

My wife works for BMW and brought home all the specs on this thing a couple months ago. check out the official site. Supposedly, they have more interior room than a 3 series. Personally can't wait til these are on the lots because she gets a nice employee deal. We'll probably have a couple 😀
