<< Man oh man I have to have one now. I'll take mine Silver with white top with 17" wheels like this one.. >>

That is a nice car. Funny though, that the original had 10" wheels!
I think overall length was just under 10 feet.

<<
Also, gas mileage is 26/43 city/highway. Best in its class...I'd like to see an Altima do that.
>>

That would be useful if you live in Europe, where gas is 4 bux. Or if you are poor. But if you are putting down $20K+ for this car, you probably aint starving.
Also, how is this better than subary WRX? price difference is very small. WRX is probably more fun to drive than this thing. I just don't see the value of this thing aside from projecting some sort of ghey Austin Powers image.

WTF dude!!!! It's just a car that YOU are not even paying for. It's not your money!! 🙂 People like different things. I personally don't like the looks of the WRX or the feel of its interior. Let people choose what they want. It'd be like me saying that your wife/girlfriend is an ugly bitch and that you could do better. But I wouldn't dare say a thing like that to someone.

Oh, I guess you saying it's a sweet car is like me saying your girlfriend/wife has a nice rack and I want to do her? 🙂
You need to lighten up and stop comparing cartalk to real life. Since when can you only say bad things about cars that you own?

I'm just askin' you to lighten up a bit 🙂 Telling people that it's gay or that you need something amputated for buying it? Come on now! 😉

I've read a review somewhere of the S version and the writer said he would prefer the standard version because the suspension's just too stiff on the S. Considering the writer's probably a car enthusiast and also considering how weak the standard is compared to the S 115hp vs. 160hp), that suspension must be close to flat-out unbearable. Until I try it myself, I can't really make a qualified statement... just going on my hunches.

Seems like it'd be fun for the auto-x but lacking in the real-life dept. I feel cramped in my car when my friend and I go skiing (2 pair skis and 2 people's gear) and I have a 4 door sedan! That's the problem with these cars that have awesome feature x or incredible performance y, is that they sacrifice other stuff. Like the WRX, to get best-in-class speed, handling, and fun in all conditions, Subaru sacrificed a little back seat room, almost all interior decoration, a little gas mileage, and acceleration above 100 mph. But with the Mini Cooper (S), I would feel like I was sacrificing all back seat room, and all trunk room, which I think would be a pretty big thing for most people. I'd definitely take a look at it if I were looking for a 2nd fun car 🙂.

I saw a yellow one Friday and the local Mexican food place. Its tiny... But it had 4 wheel disc brakes!!

They have to put 4 wheel disk on them.. they just KNOW that they will have 1000 lbs of audio equipment bolted into the back.. 😉

I saw a yellow Cooper S in the airport terminal in Tel Aviv back in January. There was an hour until departure so I spent a few minutes looking it over. None of the other Americans seemed to notice it, although I'm sure most of them had never seen the new Mini before. I definitely think the Cooper is cool and looks nice and works well, but I probably wouldn't buy one until I had a normal size car first. 😉

i had an M5 sighting yesterday. parked up front at central market. i almost missed it because i was ogling these two sorority hotties. then i saw a G35 (i know, not in the same league but its still nice) and 2002 max se.

I was at a trade show in San Fran a few weeks ago and they had the nationwide dealer launch of the new mini's.

I had about 20 different ones to gawk at and then I rented a car to go up north coast and guess who was touring up there? Everyone and the mini's.

Anyway, talked with one of the sponsors and he was very large, 250 + over 6 foot and he said he was surprisingly comfortable in the seat.

Talk about handling on those roads also, they were flying aroung the curves.

I've had a 99 sentra gxe that has been really really sweet to me, but
I got that car in a hurry after an accident. I think this Mini is what I have been
waiting for, but I'm gonna wait till the end of the year to see how things pan
out. I've also been reading good things about the Subaru as well.

Wow theyve been available over here since November I think... pretty popular so they arent a rare sight either.

<< I personally think its uglier then my aunts butt. But to each his own. 😉 >>

lol, and ugly little beatle equiv... fad. beetles no longer fly off showrooms, pt cruisers no longer either. and soon minicoopers will join them. if i wanted to be in a tiny vehicle i'd stick with a miata.

think urkel-mobil😛

<< these little coffins on wheels are kinda nifty 😉 They will sell very well I think. >>

Yepper. My thoughts exactly.
