Looks like I owe $700 to Uncle Sam. I'm just going to wait to file....
I'm going to owe a lot more than that. I'll file at the last second just like always. Anyone that gets a refund is an idiot. Anyone that gets excited about a refund is a double-idiot. If you're getting a refund you just gave the government an interest-free loan for a year. If you under-withhold and have to pay, you're giving the government back THEIR money and they gave you an interest-free loan of it for 16 months. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which end of that equation you want to be on. But without fail every spring you'll hear all the "financially-challenged" doing the "I got a refund" dance as if they actually did something good.
This subject has been argued to death.
For the majority of people, having the government take an extra $50(or whatever) per week is un-noticeable to them.
So by getting that money the end of the year is a PLUS.
Lets face it, many people do not have the self-control to put away the extra ~$50 every week if it was up to them.
If you can, kudo to you but that doesn't make them "double idiot"
And its not 16 months. Get your math corrected.
Yeah for people who file in April, the first time they do it, it will be 16 months.
But if they keep filing every April...they are getting their money every April so its 12 months..not 16 months.
