I guess if you are going to spend $499, whats another $18? I probably would choose the overnight shipping also. Good choice!

Actually it was the $449 deal.
Purchased it cuz I fried my 9800XT, had to have something....😉
 
Got confirmation on mine, cheked my CompUSA invoice to make sure I paid the 18.00 for overnight.

So around noon pacific time tomorrow I should be shoving it into my rig.

They beat the original June 15th date by one day, and that 15th date beat the original July 1st by 2 weeks.

Looks like ATI is getting the volume ramped up.

It was last month from CompUSA. Jsut got my update abotu shipping. Shipped today Priority Overnight, it will be here before 10:30am....WoooHooo!!!!! 😛

Got mine in.

First impressions of the card itself outside the computer:
Man this thing is HEAVY. The heatsink is pure copper. The card easily weighs 3 times what the 9800Pro that it replaces weighs.

Apparently this card is some AIW variant. It included the rage theater pro chip, HDTV in and out cables. And all the supporting software for it.

It was inserted into a dual opteron 244 rig. Using the Tyan Thunder K8W.

In the only game I've tested so far City of Heroes:

Resolution 1600X1200

All settings for the world detail at 100%, shadows on, and geometry buffers on.

ATI 9800Pro:
Max Outside FPS: 45
Min Outside FPS: 19

Max "inside/door" FPS:94
Min "iside/door" FPS: 47

ATI X800 XT PE
Max Outside FPS: 65
Min Outside FPS: 37

Max "inside/door" FPS:170
Min "iside/door" FPS: 110

Sorry i don't have far Cry or 3dmark03 scores, neither of those programs are installed on my system, and probably never will be. I'm more of the RPG type person, not FPS player.

But the 50% gain on a very detailed MMO was more than I could have hoped for.

It would appear that I'm somewhat CPU bound with the 1.8Ghz AMD64's. Those will likely be updated in the near future.

And oh did I mention the cool dual layer Black with red trim ATI T-shirt and letter thanking me for being an early adopter of ATI technology. These people really know how to stroke your ego, when you spend your money on them. It also included a DEMO cd with supposedly more of their special ruby demo's. I haven't had a chance to take a look at that yet, because I've been playing CoH, and typing this up.

EDIT: updated FPS numbers after installing the latest bios for the motherboard, which included lots of enhancements to the AMD AGP tunnel.
 
Come on fill us in with your wit about us paying to much or getting an inferior card to one that still has to hit the streets. We are big boys and girls we can take it.

But thanks for not derailing the thread.

So far after having the card for slightly over 2 hours it's pretty much done what it advertised, doubled frame rates for DirectX games, and amazingly openGL as well.

Both CoH and Thief😀eadly Shadows have at least doubled on the max FPS, and almost doubled on the min FPS.

I'm fairly certain that faster CPU's would help the min frame rates. My opteron 244's (1.8Ghz) are starting to show their limits.

So the rest of you that got your X800 lets hear about 3dmark03 and things like far cry.
 
how is the image quality compared to the 9800pro. More shimmering or anything? Damm now I really want one. :beer:

Edit. Quiet as advertised, or is it worth it to get one of the quieter versions?
