SO I guess this is a good investment if you are trying to find a way out of paying for college in 10 years.

You bunch of overprotective freaks.

Most of these people don't make it outside because of the dangers. Don't listen to them. Looks cool. I was riding a minibike at six. Good for your daughter. Maybe she won't be scared of air and such things.

Agreed. Now, I'm not a parent (hell, I don't even LIKE kids) but if I had a little girl, I just couldn't see myself giving it to her, especially at 7. I could see a 15 year old boy, but that's diff...

I was resotring a a car at 13

You just ahve to set limits, put a throttle stopper in it so she can only go maybe 15 mph then advance it every few months, till shes a pro.

Those aren't actually as loud as you'd think...I'd rather have that then some neighbor using a weedwhacker, say.

to the OP: It's very possible for 7-year olds to be mature enough to handle something like that. However, that's a judgement call that only you can make, and I hope you're right.

Yeah but the neighbor with the weedwhacker isn't riding by your house for hours on end. Damned kids. Where's my friggin' EMP gun:| I admit, I sound like a bitter old man but fvck you and get your sh!t away from my house!

that is pimp :) 400 bucks on your little girl? man some of these guys are going to be stingy ass parents with :( children

Make sure safety first. I'm sure i need not tell you this, but obviously pads, long sleeves durable clothes (at her age probally jeans and a denim jacket.. unless you sprung for leather too you crazy dad you..). And though you may not think she'll go that fast.. the thought may be there. make sure you instill the fear of all things bad into her about going max speed ;) Kudos, that's an awesome gift.

Sh!t, she could go 35-40 mph down a hill on a bicycle. Have you seen some of the crazy stunts kids are pulling on BMX bikes? That's a lot more dangerous than a 50cc motorcycle.

She won't be going that fast lol? Even at 10 MPH if she wipes out a 78 pound bike on a what 50-60 pound little girl. You are a idiot sir. Its not the money (I built my son a computer for his 4th birthday present) nor is it about boy/girl it don't matter she's too young, and when I say young I mean small, little, FRAGILE.

What bothers me is you said your WIFE won't let you have a dirtbike BUT she will let her DAUGHTER have this???? Great Mom!!!

I have a 7 year old myself and he is adventurous, hell he's a daredevil and I think its ok I don't want him to have a fear of trying things BUT I won't give him something like a mini bike until he atleast weighs MORE than it. Damn.

I second this. That "toy" can potentially be VERY dangerous for a little girl. Hell, bikes can be dangerous, and they only go the speed with which you can pedal.

heh when i was 8 i got my first bike. a 49CC Honda street bike. then a 49cc motocross bike. at 10 i got a 80cc street bike and had a 90cc motocross and a 120cc motocross bike. I was also racing go carts at 100cc or so.

the main thing is you have to teach them how to ride safe and have a safe place to ride. NEVER allow them to go on the street. We were lucky and lived on a large part of land where i could ride around the property.

At 11 i lived in a place called Lake Holiday in IL. Kids were allowed to ride on the street. that was cool. But we did have to pass a safety class to allow us to ride.

I don't think i would get this for my daughter at 8. Unless i knew she had a safe area to ride. Where we didn't have to worry about some a-hole creaming her.

there is a throttle governor i believe on the bike, thus he can adjust how much gas she can put to the bike limiting her speed.

my friend has an 80cc dirtbike he bought, its so much freaking fun and its only one gear. lol.

we are all 18+ on the 80.

you are trying to justify what we think of your purchase for yourself by saying you bought this for your daughter?!?

nice try but perhaps a pedal powered bike a couple years first...you do realize the damage this 'toy' can cause right?

Some ofthe crap people spit out here still amazes me.... ^^^^^

Oh, and "the damge this "toy" can cause".. Girlfriend of mine in college got a call one day about the death of her little brother. He fell off his bike and hit his head on the curb.........Hmmmm....maybe I should not let her go outside at all....

My boy has been riding dirtbikes since he was 6 (he's 8 now). I wish they only cost $400 and went 35 mph. The wife can't watch him. He has all the gear and only rides wide open on the track. When he rides in the woods behind the house I enable the throttle limiter.

I have seen those bikes alot lately, just have her be careful, wiping out on the road is much different than on dirt.

I'm 16.. and I want one so badly. Haha, I'm trying to convince my Dad to buy it for me as a birthday present and he won't even take a look at it. Growing up and never being able to own a motorvehicle of any sort I have definitely been scarred for life. Looks like I'm going to have to do some sweet sweet talking and praying..

I got it today! Wow, what a neat little bike. I zips me along at 40mph no problem. I brought it home this evening and let my wife ride it around, even let the little one ride with me on it. They are so sturdy. I am very impressed. We are going to get my little ones helmet and gear tomorrow and go to a big grass field close to home and teach her to ride. She is so excited. :)

Hi,

You sound excited for your daughter (and I'm sure she is excited too). We just bought a 49cc mini-chopper for our 11 year old daughter last week. She had her first ride this afternoon and it was great. Honestly, I was terrified that something would happen to her but she really surprised me. Her Dad got in our yard (we live on a dirt road in the country and our yard is 4+ acres so she has plenty of room to practice) and rode with her for a few laps to show her how to use the throttle. Once she got over the initial fear, she did great. Of course, she went slow (but we wanted her to).

We had already talked to her a lot about having repect for her bike. While I'm still not sure I'd be comfortable with this if we lived on a pavement road, us being on a dirt road was perfect. I think we were as excited as she was. With her size, and the size of the mini chopper we bought her, it looked like a Harley made for midget. It was priceless.

Our best friends have a Harley and she is itching to ride her bike to their house (they live 1/4 mile from us) but we've told her she has to have more experience with her "chopper" before that can happen.

Have fun teaching your daughter to respect her bike.

If you did not break the engine in properly before "zipping around at 40", it won't be solid for long.

It is very important to break a 2-cycle engine in properly if you want it to last.
