Try another PCI slot.

still the same error :(

Dang. Let's see....drivers...do you have the latest drivers?

Do you get past the bios, or does the bios lockup? If you get past the bios, it's not a hardware problem.

Question for ya... Is it possible to use 3 monitors at once using 2 video cards? (Radeon 9700 w/dual AGP, and a crappy PCI card)

Yep, I run a 9700 Pro and a Matrox 8mb PCI with 3 monitors.

yeah, you're not going to get it to work with S3 cards. They specifically do NOT support dual/triple monitors. I wanted to do the same thing because I had a couple extra S3 virge's laying around, but no go. Matrox Millinium's work great as do Voodoo's. I have a Millenium 4MB'er sitting around gathering dust if you want it.

Would that 4mb card work with the triple?

I wish i still lived in a college town. We used to find all kinds of stuff in the dorm dumpster when i lived in Madison, WI from bongs to couches computers and food. It was like christmas when the college kids went home in the summer:D:

I just walked past the southeast dorms today, and people are already moving out.

I can't wait until Aug. 14th to get my next couch.

Maybe it was an ATI Rage that wouldn't work with the dual monitor and not the S3. Anyways, yes, the 4MB worked well when I had it setup as a secondary video card for dual monitors. I had an integrated mobo video card (also Matrox I believe) and the Millenium driving two 19" monitors at 1280x1024 @85Hz.

Lucky!

Its amazing what companies will throw away once something gets upgraded, I'm sure theres thousands of dollars of perfectly good equipment that was simply thrown onto the curb and never recovered.

Not all cards can handle being a slave. I have atleast 4 that don't (ATI something old, a couple S3s, Permedia (1))
