he's probably a new seller and doesn't understand the ToS of eBay.
First point out to him that he's legally binded to sell it to you at that price. If he still doesn't do it, report his ass

report his ass anywayssssssss

Hello and thanks for bidding on my item, the reason for my email is because I am getting phone calls from people offering more money for my items, are you interested in paying more???? Let me know,

Is there anything I can do, or basically am I screwed?

Pretend you didn't get his e-mails, pay with credit card. When he doesn't deliver goods, chargeback his ass. That will put a stop on his PayPal account AND the funds on it.

This listing was automatically ended early because the item reached the maximum price allowed by state law.
Never seen that before....

Apparently in Florida, you cannot resell tickets for more than $1 above face value.

so not only is he violating his legally binding contract with the buyer, he is also conspiring to violate florida state law.

Isn't that illegal?

Yes. The seller contracted with ebay to list the item via their auction process, and the auction concluded, and now the seller is trying to continue the auction on his own, thus in violation of ebay's policies, and possibly worthy of a civil breach-of-contract from the winning bidder/"buyer" as well. (IMHO, IANAL)

Hopefully, when e-bay hears about that, they will ban his entire e-bay account.

Ah it's tickets for tennis. I had to re-read it a few times, trying to figure out WTF you'd want tickets to watch stocks... 😕

I ended up sending this email back:
...I?m interested in paying what I fairly won the auction at. I would appreciate if you abided by eBay?s rules. I don?t mean to sound rude, but if you wanted to scalp you shouldn?t have put the tickets up on eBay....

yeah it depends on the state. ebay is very careful to follow the ticket resale laws for each state.

Similiar in MA, I think that the max is the face value/original cost of the tickets.
According to ebay:
Massachusetts restricts its residents from bidding higher than face value (plus fees) plus $2.00 for tickets to events taking place in Massachusetts. However, ticket brokers licensed by the state may charge for certain additional expenses related to acquiring and selling the ticket.

haha. yea. OP can have his ass in a major sling for violating Florida law. and unlike violating ebay ToS, violating FL law can have some real life consequences

You realize I am the buyer right? I'm not the scalper.

guys an ahole, try to buy the tickets for the price you won it, and report him

Just tell him no. Tell him to leave you positive feedback NOW and you will do the same for him. Once he leaves you positive feedback, slam him hard with a nice big red NEGATIVE feedback 🙂

Nothing will happen if everything in your feedback is factually correct. Saying he's a shitbag won't work. Saying he's a scalper who tried to milk you for more money after the close will.

There's an arbitration service called SquareTrade to get feedback removed, but it costs $20 and he'd have to pay - not to mention that the arbiter will just say "Damn, you're stupid. OMGZPWNT!"

So that's what they are for. At first glance I thought it was for nascar tickets.

You won't get in trouble. Just do it.

ebay won't do crap about it. paypal won't do crap about it. just tell him you're gonna pay the amount of the auction, and where can you meet to pick them up.

the best you can hope for is getting the tickets for the amount you paid. the worst that will happen is you won't get the tickets, so you won't pay and leave him negative feedback (like that means anything)

Hmm,

I got this back:

You are right, I'm sorry about that. I live on south beach, I can FEDEX the tickets, or would you like to meet in person so you pay me??

Let me know,
<name withheld>

Hey, maybe I should turn around and scalp them heh j/k

Think I should ask for them to pay for the Fedex?
