Well, if the NHL actually added the damn chip to the pucks, people could see it(there exists a chip for hockey pucks that lets you overlay/enhance the image using position data from the chip, somewhat like the 1st down line in football).

Actually the company that did the 1st down line, was responsible for the whole hockey puck thing(you know, the hockey puck with a blue auroa around it). It didnt last a season, fans hated it. Maybe if the revised it, it could work but when they did it, it just didnt work.

Not because of the skirts, but because the quality of play is just as good as with the men. Especially since the Williams sisters have been playing.

I can't argue with Title IX being necessary, but I don't think there's anyone to blame for people not wanting to watch women's sports with the same passion as men's sports.

I didn't read the entire thread, so I apologize in advance if I ask something that's already been brought up.

If the quality of play is just as good between women and men in certain sports, why aren't those sports played mixed? Tennis, for example? How would the best women do against the best men? Golf? Hell, how about the WNBA teams playing against the NBA? It could be interesting..

If you like sports, go play them yourself instead of just watching.
I don't particularly enjoy watching guys in tight pants hump eachother, then I prefer watching the Brazillian Women Soccer team.

tennis has already been tried. the Williams sisters were popping off a few years ago after McEnroe said the 1000th ranked man would beat them. they challenged the 100th ranked man, and didn't win a game. they got bageled, both of them. at the highest levels, women cannot compete at a sport where speed and strength matter. now, fishing, maybe.

LINK

Exhibit A: The Connecticut women's basketball team wins its 55th straight game last Saturday, breaking the alltime women's record. But unless you happened to get the feed from the Connecticut Public Television network, you couldn't see the game live. ESPN will show men fishing heroically, and Fox will show a man trying to outrun a giraffe, but televise one of the landmark events in women's hoops history? Sorry, baby, you haven't come a long way.

ESPN Radio talked about it

Exhibit B: Tennessee's women's basketball genius Pat Summitt quietly wins her 800th game on Tuesday of last week, becoming the first woman and only the fourth Division I coach to do it. Nationally, it made all the splash of a marshmallow landing in a bog. When North Carolina's Dean Smith hit 800 in 1994, there was so much coverage, you'd have thought he'd just returned from Mars.

And that

Exhibit C: At the Australian Open, Serena Williams tries to win her fourth consecutive major -- the Serena Slam, if you will -- and America barely looks up from Joe Millionaire. Of course when Tiger Woods completed his Tiger Slam at the Masters in 2001, a national holiday was nearly declared.

And a good bit about that

I dunno, ESPN radio is doing its part. You also have to realize that no one cares about women's sports. Have you ever watched the WNBA? Boring. People don't clamor for women's sports, and they don't usually get televised.

i am a horndog like u all... but, i have decided to change my views on women... i am tired of looking at them as a piece of meat.... all the implications for short skirts, and wet t-shirts and the joe millionares, all those objectifications - i can't swallow it...... for heaven's sake, i only have one sister, and God forbid it, but i have decided to try not to objctify women... as a matter of fact, i have decided to walk away from the commericals for the super bowl since i have a feeling almost all of them, probably more than any other super bowl commercial year, they are going to be filled with sexual innuendos.... (for heaven's sake, how can i let my 9 year innocent brother watch that)

some of you might lough, but that just might show how much we need help, i say we because I was there and sometimes i am, but i have decided i need to change...

Until then, I blame it ON WOMEN. Why aren't women supporting their own? Instead of watching the WNBA, they'd rather watch the Bachelorette or Days of Our Lives.

You don't see any soap opera producers tearing their hair out because only 8% of their viewing audience are men.
WNBA draws Lesbians to it like light draws moths to it so they do have a dedicated audience.
