Wolfenstein TNO and more than 4 cores

Game looks interesting in the sense of an old run and gun shooter. But given some of the tech issues reported and that its single player only, I'll wait until its sub $20 in 6-12 months.

I'm about to put your curiosity to rest since that isn't what I said. I don't want every game to be MP, I want them priced accordingly though. I'd have no problems with this being SP only if it was priced right. It's not like this has anywhere near the scope of Skyrim for it to be priced up there with it. The content is not worth the asking price. It needs to be cheaper or it needs to have more content.

Got it. I can appreciate that line of thought. I kinda live by an old XKCD line of thinking when it comes to games, I always stay 6-8 months behind and pay 20% the cost that everyone else does, and the games are always new to me. And since i dont care much for multiplayer I dont have to worry about the community dying off since its older.

I'm curious as to why everyone wants every game to be MP? I am perfectly happy playing a good single player game.

This is just a question, not trying to bait etc. Surely i cant be the only one that enjoys single player.

I only care about the single player experience in games.

i haven't had a decent single-player experience in games in years; it seems today the concept of "game" is "watch cutscene, walk to next cutscene", while murdering tons of useless enemies.

idk why but games seems to have gotten castrated in the last 10 years. i can easily go through a whole game (example: bioshock infinite) without failing once.

pls, bring back doom.

Wolfenstein reportedly has 20 hours of content. That is definitely worth the $60 price tag IMO.

Read the forums more. Most people are finishing it in 8. Skyrim is WAY longer than 20 hours. Assassins Creed is longer as well WITH an MP component. Same with Batman, Fallout 3 and even Borderlands 2.

You're entitled to your opinion, but considering I can't think of another SP only game that's this short for this much, I'll respectfully disagree. It's overpriced by $10 if not $20.

It all depends how you play a game. Skyrim can be beaten in just over two hours if you just rush through the main quest. 😉

yea, i don't think opengl is really capable of making use of a lot of cores well. Quake 4 was the first game to make use of a dual core iirc.

We were playing in SMP mode with Quake 3 actually on dual Celeron's. OpenGL has been able to have multithreaded games for a very long time! I don't think it really supports it all that well however, a lot of it still has to be done from a single thread but it also has lower overhead and an API that allows for a lot of batching thus is matters a lot less.

The frame rate cap doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hell, I always turn Vsync ON for the games I play anyway so I don't get screen tearing.

What bothers me is the $60 the publishers want to charge you. I don't own consoles so I don't expect to pay the console price. Secondly, releasing a game with graphic bugs for us AMD users is just shameful. If you are going to charge premium, then the work must also be of equal value.

I'll wait for the sale and subsequent patches that will fix the graphic problems. I just refuse to "reward" developers for poorly coded games with my hard earned dollars at these premium prices.

I don't mind caps as long as they can be manipulated, but if its locked in hard at 60 and can't be changed (don't know if this is the case, but I'm not sure why a reviewer wouldn't have increased that cap by now in order to remove that artificial bottleneck and see how it plays out) that's a pretty big middle finger to those of us with 120+Hz

Is it my hearing or is the audio in this game rubbish? The audio in the plane opening has no oooomph - you can barely hear anything outside the bomber and the speech seems oddly quiet. The opening bunker was echoing and the guns have no roar like BF4. I upgraded to a new H97 with a better ALC 1150 audio codec so I'll see if the issues there, but still, anyone else run into this? Its basically too quiet and doesn't have punch . . . .

Quite enjoying the game but my god the id tech 5 engine sucks ass.

Here's a pretty vital tip.

http://www.game-debate.com/news/?ne...ropic Filtering To Wolfenstein: The New Order

Binding A Shortcut Key To Permanently Apply Custom Anisotropic Filtering (AF) Settings In Wolfenstein: The New Order

Unfortunately, as stated above when you die or reload a checkpoint Wolfenstein: The New Order resets Anisotropic Filtering down to 0, even worse than the default 4x. To fix this you can permanently bind the AF console fix to a single key. Press Ctrl + Alt + ~ to bring up the console in Wolfenstein: The New Order and type: bind X "vt_maxAniso 16" - where X is the key you want to bind the shortcut to.

Now when you die or reload a checkpoint in Wolfenstein: The New Order you can load your AF settings with a tap of the shortcut key.

How To Apply Custom Multisample Anti-aliasing (MSAA ) Settings In Wolfenstein: The New Order

By default Wolfenstein: The New Order has no MSAA, but this can be overridden by the in-game console. Press Ctrl + Alt + ~ to open the console and type “r_multisamples x4” (where x is the level of Multisample AA required - up to a maximum of 16). Press enter and then close the console to apply.

Enabling higher levels of MSAA should provide better image quality in Wolfenstein: The New Order. MSAA isn’t the most effective form of antialiasing but it is an optimisation of AA that is less demanding on hardware.

Binding A Shortcut Key To Permanently Apply Custom Multisample Antialiasing (MSAA) Settings In Wolfenstein: The New Order

MSAA in Wolfenstein: The New Order unfortunately has the same problem as AF in that it needs reapplying every time you die or reload a checkpoint, or otherwise resets to 0x MSAA.

To fix this you can permanently bind the MSAA console fix to a single key. Press Ctrl + Alt + ~ to bring up the console in Wolfenstein: The New Order and type: bind X “r_multisamples x4” - where X is the key you want to bind the shortcut to.

Now when you die or reload a checkpoint in Wolfenstein: The New Order you can load your MSAA settings with a tap of the shortcut key. Annoyingly both graphics shortcuts can’t be bound to the same key in Wolfenstein: TNO so you’ll have to bind them to two separate keys.

Why on earth they haven't included an AA option in the settings menu is beyond me.
