I dunno if anybody has commented on this, but it was ARod who started the fight. He said F U twice, Varitek stepped in, then ARod basicablly said "bring it"... And Varitek did (I woulda liked to have seen that fight play out, Vari is a beast). I'll admit, the Sox have started stuff in the past, but this was all ARod. I really wish they let Varitek go at him :)... Then that little biatch Sturtze trying to tackle down Kapler... Yea, he should have been ejected, and yea, he got the s* smacked outta himself as well.

GG.

Another great post, by another Yankee Hater. Please get some information correct. You do NOT know what Varitek said underneath that mask. You do NOT know what Arroyo said on the mound. Let see how you would deal with a person intentionally throwing a pitch at you and see how you would react. Sturtze was pulling people away, he did not target anyone. Ortiz should get more on top of his 5 games for throwing a punch too (and embarassingly missing).

FYI:

Jason Varitek #33 | Catcher | Boston Red Sox
Height: 6-2 Weight: 230

Álex Rodríguez #13 | Third Base | New York Yankees
Height: 6-3 Weight: 210

I don't care what Varitek said underneath the mask... ARod said F U... TWICE. Before anything else visibily happened. Besides that, I honestly doubt that it was intentional. There's no way to prove this, of course, but I don't see why Arroyo would do that.

If Sturtze was pulling people away, he was doing it all wrong. You don't pull people away by grabbing them around the neck (as far as I saw and heard). Kapler, Sturtze, ARod, and Varitek should all get time, I don't think anyone else would deserve it. And, yea, Varitek is a beast.

You don't care what Varitek said under the mask, cause your afraid I'm right. You might not know it, but Varitek may not be the angel you put him out to be. ARod complained yes. But once Varitek stepped between him and Arroyo, that was Varitek's fault. Another thing, Kapler did nothing wrong, he should not be punished. David Ortiz should get more time for throwing a horrible punch, on top of the 5 he should be serving already. Red Sox are turning out to be a bunch of hotheads that get mad when things don't go their way.

I doubt that you're right... Really the worst that could have been said is "get the f* to 1st," or something. ARod instigated it by egging Vari on like that. As far as Varitek stepping in like he did, that's what a catcher is supposed to do... Protect the pitcher. He did nothing wrong there. And I still blame ARod; telling me that the Red Sox are the hotheads in this situation isn't going to do anything to change that.

I agree with this statement and the Yankees handed the Red Sox a huge momentum booster.

Rodriguez started nothing. There's a line between verbal and physical conflict, and the sox crossed it twice (beaning Rodriguez, then Varitak hitting him) before the yankees joined the fray en masse. How you can say Rodriguez started anything when he was intentionally beaned without provocation is beyond me, but then I'd be pretty irrational too, if my team went beyond just sucking and had actual paranormal activity dissuade it from a championship for over 85 years...

They have a history of beaning Yankees left and right. Schilling is the only decent pitcher in their ball club. Nomahhhhhh seems to be a decent guy too and so is Damon. Other than that, their whole team are bunch for hot head sore losers.

Again, I see no reason for Arroyo to throw at anybody in that circumstance... Whether or not he did, whatever, you're supposed to walk to first; ARod chose to shout "F U" twice, then ask Varitek to 'bring it,' and Varitek obliged. Way to kick in that little insult at the end... Ouch.

On the YES channel they just showed the fight over again and interviewed ARod. First on the tape it shows clearly that ARod was speaking to Arroyo, NOT Varitek. Yes Varitek stepped in to protect his pitcher, but in NO WAY did ARod instigate that fight with Varitek. Second, ARod clearly stated that he was shouting at Arroyo and Varitek came out of no where. Neither will discuss what Varitek said to him. Please stop assuming and get the facts straight.

Discussing a point of contention rationally isn't in the same 'ballpark' (ha-ha) as talking trash. I'm able to convey my feelings and why they're my feelings without offending anyone who isn't already looking to be offended, without repeating myself, and in mostly lower case.

There are no facts there that hurt my argument... Yes, I know he was talking to Arroyo, but, again (and the Yankee announcers even said this), it is Varitek's job to step in and protect his pitcher in those kinds of situations. The only thing I'm assuming is that Varitek didn't say anything wildly inflamatory. The first physical contact was made by Varitek, but only after being egged on heavily.

Another thing is, Yankee players take it pretty well. They have been beaned this year a couple of times and no brawls. Boston players have the same mentality as the area they are from. Boston fans are just rowdy sore losers who make every win seem more dramatic and try to find excuses for every loss.

Heh.

My brother is a Boston fan, my dad is a Yankee fan. My dad roots for Manny, cause he's family, but doesn't like seeing the Red Sox win.

I missed the fight :(, but saw the end of the game.

How you can say Rodriguez started anything when he was intentionally beaned without provocation is beyond me, but then I'd be pretty irrational too, if my team went beyond just sucking and had actual paranormal activity dissuade it from a championship for over 85 years...

Ok, I have to step in here. What the hell game were you watching? First of all: A-Rod was NOT BEANED, he was HIT BY A PITCH. A beaning is when you get HIT IN THE HEAD. He was not! He was hit in the elbow. Like NY said, she should've simply walked to first base, and taken it like a man, not a wild animal. Varitek was protecting the pitcher, 100% correct statement. That's what a catcher does. It's typical though, once a player puts on a Yankee uniform, all of their class seems to go right out the window.

Again, I don't see where Varitek was egged on. If anything it was Varitek who said something to ARod that made him say Bring it.

When ARod turned to him and said F U 3 (I just looked at the replay) times and then waved his finger at him...

I missed the fight :(, but saw the end of the game.

Ha must be fun to be in the family. My brother is a Mets fan, I'm a Yankees fan.
