WMP7 with all the codecs run fine :D

I tried that. According to MS it should have worked. Didn't, so I installed WMP 9.
Any tricks on this stuff? I'll be formatting within the month, so I get to do it all over again.

I does work.

I am using the WMP7 that is standard on Win2kpro.

I have all my codecs up.

Get the WMP9 codec from a programmed called AVIpreview. Look at that and you can search for it. Or I can send it to you if you can't find it.

Just PM me if you need the WMP9 codecs. Runs fine on my system :D

I bet people would download and install WMP9 in droves IF it would play EVERY format! No more Quicktime, Real Player! ONE SIZE FITS ALL FOREVER! Of course MS would do this if they wouldn't wind up in court again.

Baloney! I've never met an AVI or an MPEG I couldn't play with WMP 6.4. Or Winamp 3... (And I download a lot of movies with p2p progs.)
You just need the right codecs installed. DivX, Xvid, the nimo pack...

I thought that way too. I can play everything on 6.4 except the newer WMV files. Also, the nimo pack screws up some of my games (background sounds, no voice sounds).

uhh. all wmp >6.4 = teh suck. MS never seems to understand that making something "user friendly" should not equate to make it big and bloaty. That and you can't seek on ASFs. 6.4 all the way.
