I like rap, both new and old. I even listen to some Wiz Khalifa and Weezy (emphasis on SOME...most of it is just plain bad).

That said, Heller, your posts are ridiculous and your taste in music is even worse. Are you really comparing Wiz Khalifa to Biggy? Are you 14? Holy shit, please get off the internet.

Oh...and every single Wiz Khalifa song you posted on this thread fucking sucks.

yeah thats why all his songs i've posted have hundreds of thousands of views.but thats only cause i've been there that many times? right?

wiz will never be considered amongst biggie n tupac becaues (among other reasons) they are golden age rappers and that age is over. itd be like saying that some great punk band from the 80's would be mentioned with led zepelin and the stones one day in their respective genre.

i think that a lot of waynes popularity (aside from his ability to spew non-sensical rhymes almost infinitely) came from the fact that a newer generation needed a new "greatest" rapper to associate with, one that was "theirs" and not annointed by the previous generation. same with the whole skinny jeans and minimalistic beats phase... it was just new regions/generations putting their own twist or trademark on the genre to make it individual to them. now these "experimentations" might not always be your kind of thing, but its from them that quality music with a new fresh sound is born.

now i can go on and on about my love for the golden age of rap, but the fact of the matter is you can only listen to illmatic, reasonable doubt, southernplayalistic, etc so many times before you need to listen to something else. thats why i like keeping up with new music and finding the good stuff (and im sure i miss a BUNCH). sure i could sit back and bitch about how so-and-so will never be as great as the folks were "back in MY day", but then not only do i sound like an asshole whose time has past, but i also miss out on some great music.

Is this really your argument? This doesn't even need examples to argue for a person with average intelligence to know that you're still fucking retarded.

only thing your missing here is the the teenage girl audience. They are what defines anyone in music today rap or otherwise. If you can capture their attention which isn't difficult you are considered a 'god' . Lil wayne has somehow done this as every girl I know in the (16-24) crowd is a "wayniac' right now. They will tout him as the greatest yet if you quiz them on any of his work before carter 3 they give you a blank stare. And I hate to sound like a hater of his work cuz I'm not. I've followed him since his CMM days when he was just a teenager. Those old school movies and videos were great (i.e. baller blockin) .

I guess my point is just because you get the most spins on the radio and main stream media doesn't make you the greatest it makes you the most popular and their is a distinct difference.

like who? recommendations? im always trying to download some stuff i've never herd, although i think i have every rapper im interested in albums.

Anything by Vakill, both Rhymefest albums. Marv Won's Wayne Fontes Music. They're nothing at all like Wayne or Wiz, but give em a listen. Also check Slaughtahouse's album and even La Coka Nostra. Joell Ortiz alone > Wiz & Wayne combined.

There's still golden area sounding rap for everyone here talking about real rap's dead. La Coka & Slaughtahouse especially both have that classic vibe.

I will say that I enjoy older "golden age" rap a ton more then I enjoy older genres. I can listen to a tupac song or album and greatly enjoy it vs hearing Journey and not enjoying it. I think a lot of it has to do with the songs aren't terribly overplayed in my age group vs classic rock being the "Indie" thing and everyone and their mother who wants to be edgy has to spout off about how much better old music is while that doesn't happen with golden age rap. People who like rap appreciate it but I don't know many people who enjoy that style of rap but refuse to enjoy modern forms of it.
