Witch Suing UNL Over Firing
EOC says rights violated because of religion discriminiation

A woman has filed a lawsuit against the University of Nebraska, claiming she was fired because she is a witch.

The lawsuit was filed by a plaintiff identified as Jane Doe. The filing says the woman, who practices witchcraft as her religion, was hired by the university in February 2007 to direct a youth program.

She was fired when it was discovered that she was a witch.

The woman filed a complaint with the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission, which ruled her rights were violated because of religion discriminiation.

Searched for witch, didn't see anything.

Need more info. If being a witch was the given reason for firing the woman, the university should just bend over now and take a well deserved hoggin'. They will lose, badly.

I think they just mis-spelled it. She was probably fired for being a bitch.

When in the history of the universe has a university ever fired someone for that? The entire administrative functioning of the university would stop dead.

Um, no one has heard of Wicca?
yes, but no one cares about an insignificant pagan belief system.

There are no such things as witches. Its all BS.

See the problem? If the university really did fire the woman based on religious affiliation they deserve to get nailed.

intentional? :Q

if she can prove it, soak 'em for all their worth.

I don't see how it'd be any different for getting fired for being any other religion.

It depends. Was she actively trying to recruit whomever she was overseeing? If she was doing the youth program and trying to convert kids to it or something like that, then she deserves to get fired (and yes, I'd say this if she was any other religion either).

That's not interesting journalism though. "Wiccan" won't attract as much attention as "witch."

I might actually tip off Westboro Baptist Church on this. Lolfest when she returns to work. 😀
It doesn't say that she's gay, so they wouldn't care.
