Wireless Networking Thread (DEAD)

Guys and Gals ...

Due to various reasons (including increase in work commitments, and the fliers no longer being delivered) I'm going to have to stop these lists ... I appreciate the help I've been given in maintaining these lists.

Thanks

@shley

WOW!
What a big list and much effort.
Thanks.

I saw a Trendware NIC for $15 AR, delivered... it's a great deal, i just hope it has better range than a Trendware TEW-223PI that I already have, which has much lesser range than the equivalent D-Link card in same LAN/environment. Regardless, that crappy TEW-223PI caused me to wire up more cable, install another router... The coverage should be OK now even if this higher-model of Trendware NIC has same poor range as the lesser-model I already have.

Thanks for the hard work. I need a bluetooth adapter, price is right on trendware but don't know about the company or its products.

Great collection - due to the popularity of wireless networking this should be made a permant post.

IMHO you should add the Dell wireless Access point 2300- $89 but depending on promotions sometimes quite a bit less (like last week $89-$25, including a free 16 port router ( 🙂 - actually the router was $89-$25MIR with free AP but who cares...)

Not only reasonably priced this thing is also an awesome product both for features and range

I'll add Dell only when there is a price/rebate special...

I'm adversed to including coupons / other specials, since they are dependant on sales tax / whatever...

Bump - Updated for the following stores: BB, CC, CrapUSA, OD, OM, ST, Costco

Apologies for the late update - but I'm at my in-laws this weekend.

@shley

Bump
I got this:
$59.99 ($10 MIR) - Microsoft MN700 - OfficeMax [11/09-11/15] IN STORE ONLY

Befor I saw this thread.Got it working great as an access point,conecting my wired network with a laptop (+ whatever else) 🙂The guy at OM said it wouldn`t work,hehe, works fine.

Which type of a router would I need to have wireless connection using an iBook Airport card (not Airport Extreme)?

And which access point would work if I have a wire router?

Even with a mere 37 posts this guy deserves Elite Membership...excellent work, I can't wait to go wireless!

Mods...

albrandwood's post can't be equivalent to someone postins some BS in this site.

Give the guy some credit and bump him up to being a platinum member.

This is a sweet thread... we should maybe help out and look for some review links on them.. cause I want one but I've read alot of different things on thoroughput/range/distance from different routers.

I dont know abt the access point but most of them work just fine with macs.

Airport is 802.11b. Airport extreme is 802.11g. I use Airport with my schools 802.11b network and also with my personal 802.11g network. 802.11g is backward compatible.
So, if you plan to upgrade to a faster card sometime in the future, I would recommend that you go for 802.11g.
However...if you think 802.11b is sufficient/ cheaper , you can go ahead and buy that instead.

Both should work just fine with your airport card.
