Wireless LAN and Gaming?

Whoops, hit enter slightly too fast.

I just moved into a new place, and the cable jacks are in about the worst place they could be for running wire (it's an apartment so I can't go through walls, etc).

I was interested in setting it up wireless, which would make my life easier now and later in a house. I'm sure bandwidth will be ok if I set up a wireless network, but I'm a relativly competitive FPS gamer and latency/packetloss are a concern.

Anybody know a ballpark of what the wireless network would add to ping (from what I've read maybe 8-10ms, which isn't a huge deal), and if there would be significant packetloss?

Oh and if so, any good product recommendations aside from the Conventional Wisdom (tm) in Anandtech's wireless faq?

Thanks

yeah, someone asked about this a few days ago, and the consensus was that a wireless lan works just fine for online gaming

FWIW, I use a SMC Barricade 7004 AWBR and have had no problems with it. I like SMC because their documentation is very good, which helps since getting through to their tech support is a challenge, as it is with most companies.
