Will someone please try their 802.11g USB adapter with a Tivo series 2, is it compatible?

linksys naturally has better coverage, twice as many antenna's.

however, the airlink equipment has standard ieee1690 antenna connector so just find a really nice, cheap $10 antenna thats rated at 6 or 8dbi and you'll have slightly better coverage than a linksys (rated at 6dbix2)

Had the router for some time now. Works pretty well for the most part. Just hooked up my HTPC using a airlink G adapter and the signal drops out too regularly for my liking. Picked up their 7dbi omni-directional antenna last week for $5 at Frys which has helped a little. I need to get away from the MS wireless POS though I think and load up the airlink s/w. I also saw that fry's had a 8dbi directional antenna on sale a week or two back for $5, I'm sure that'll come around again.....

Also have the USB2 adapter which works great from all round our house (single story, floor plan is about 50ft x 65ft) but I use the airlink s/w for that.

i had the misfortune of thinking this was an awesome deal and bought the usb and pci adapter and the router.

big mistake.

the router is quite possibly the worst router ever. the wireless portion must have a range of 10 feet. and even then the signal starts to weaken (i am not kidding, i was using this from 10 feet away and getting only 3 / 5 signal bars in windows).

worst router ever. i bought a linksys wrt54g for 3 times the price, and beleive me it really is 3 times hell 8 times better.

now on to the cards...

the pci card is almost useable. it only kicks you off the wireless network randomly every i dont know... 4 hours or so. sometimes this requires a restart for some quirky reason. i thought it was my router, but it continued to do this even when i got the universally thought of best router on earth wrt54g v3. anyhow, i then tried using a dlink 802.11b wireless bridge (it was on my xbox) and it was the most perfect thing ever.

the pci card somehow also would cause my router to go insane and force me to reset sometimes. perhaps it sends malformed packets i have no idea. it is a TI chipset card, so perhaps with an alternate driver or utility it could be useable.

now the usb card.

this thing was far worse than the pci one. it could barely make a connection to the linksys router 10 feet away. i just pulled it out and gave up.

so the lesson is this. Airlink stuff sucks. Even if it were free, it would not be worth the hassle of wasting your time getting it to work on your network.

I've used this router/adapter in a few different setups (as in a few different routers/adapters) and have not been disappointed. Since I use quite a few of these I always make sure I have spare backups just in case (for as cheap as they are you might as well) but I have not yet had to use one of the backups.

They're by no means full of neat features but they get the job done when you need something simple. And range has not been a problem for me as of yet. Works from one end of an apartment building to another and outside in the parking lot. :)

Just my $0.02

Can the router act as a bridge? so i can use the wireless connection to hook to my existing wireless network and then hook a few things into the ports and be on my way?

i take this back.. microsofts wireless zero configuration sucks crap.

it is garbage, make sure you absolutely install the software that comes with the card or download it from airlink101.com

i think i misplaced the cd, so i visited airlink101.com in search of that file you speak of. they dont seem to have anything available for AR315 however.

edit : NVM, i just noticed you said "with the card". maybe the router is just a plain POS and thats all there is to it.
