wiping many big drives

imagine you had to wipe (fill with random data) 40 2TB drives that were initially set up in RAID 5. This would take quite a while. The estimate the software we have shows approx 2000 hours...

I thought about trying to mirror 39 drives via RAID1, but it seems our hardware won't allow this at first glance.

do you have any other tips / recommendations for wiping such large volumes of data?

D-ban will nuke ALL drives it will detect, so make sure any connected drive to the system are the ones you want nuked.

I guess you can set them up as RAID 0, as many as your controller supports.

Then again, if you don't want the HDs anymore, then you can smash them to bits. Sledge hammer party!

Dban is probably the fastest but with that many large drives i would expect it to takes weeks to months.

Or, parcel them out to 40 individuals who will each do one drive.
