winrar vs winzip...

I only use winrar now and love it. I used to use Winzip, but it's too in-your-face. I just wanted a lite program that will do what I need. I didn't want to deal with any helper-wizards and a "pretty" GUI.

WinAce is very good too.

I personally use WinZip but I hear a program called PowerArchive is really really nice and widely compatible with multiple types of archives.. I'll probably DL it soon and give it a shot.

winrar is what i use for everything except .ace which i use winace for.. but i do have winzip installed just incase.

i like winxp's winzip program. then again, for large files, and things with tons of zips or rars, i prefer winace. but i hear that winzip can do multiple unzipping files now.

Ditto.

anyone knows the trick to unzip multiple files? let's say i have 10 zipped files i want to extra all of them to a directory at once...

i know how to do it using 'dos' and pkunzip.exe, but is there a way to do it in windows? i'm sick of clicking on each zip files...

in winrar, i just select all of the files, then click on extract
haven't tried it in winace
don't know how to do it in winace

I use Winzip for small stuff of several megabytes or less. WinRAR for larger things or when I want to split into multiple file chunkies. I also like WinRAR's SFX creator better than Winzip, so if I'm not sure whether a person I want to share the file with has WinRAR, I'll build a self-extracting archive.

Winace for a long while... then discovered the free PowerArchiver. Version 7 of powerarchiver is shareware... but it still kicks ass.

I use WinRAR...

It's less bloated than winzip, but does more... and it does everything I need (ie. zip, rar)...
