Windows XP Professional 64bit Edition $99.00

This is probably fake/oem.

Techjumble was created on 11/7/05. So it's been open a whole month.

But damn that's a nice looking site.
 
I called the #, dailed the sales externsion, and was asked to leave a name and phone #. No option to hold. I'll try again later.
 
Considering they are selling it for more than $30.00 below my cost (I work for 1 of the 9 authorized MS OEM disty's), I would be very wary of the eal, and the legitimacy of the offer.

BTW, you do know that MS has a thing where you can trade in a normal XP pro cd key for a 64 bit cd key? So if you are looking for a good deal on xp 64, just get a normal xp pro and trade it in for free for a 64 bit xp.

BTW, you do know that MS has a thing where you can trade in a normal XP pro cd key for a 64 bit cd key? So if you are looking for a good deal on xp 64, just get a normal xp pro and trade it in for free for a 64 bit xp.

I'm pretty sure that the phone # is BS. Whatever option I choose, I'm told to leave a name and phone #, and even though the message indicates that there are particular extensions for different people, there don't seem to be any.
 
Don't think x64 is ready for primetime yet. Set up a few test machines around the office, and finding modem and printer drivers is a BEYOTCH!!!
 
I got it for free from my college. If you are in school, go talk to the CmpSci department!

If you upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit through M$, you no longer have license to use the 32 bit version!

I tried the 64 Bit and had nothing but problems, btw! The drivers are just not avalible or unstable!

I wanted to set up a Raid 0 with Win 64 and the machine would just reboot over and over... gave up and did it in 32bit! Works like a charm!
 
I've been using x64 exclusively for about a month now. No problems at all. It also appears to be noticably faster than the 32-bit version.

Keep in mind, I don't have any legacy hardware such as modems and the like. Oh, and this is basically a gaming rig -- I haven't run into any game incompatibilities either.

Probably just from having a fresh install of windows. All the gaming benchmarks I saw compared from 32 bit were either wash, or actually SLOWER in 64 bit (riddick comes to mind). These were games that had a specific 64 bit mode or executable. I think only 1 game was a couple percent faster.
 
Can't you download x64 for free? Where was that at? Anyone pm me with the link? And also - All programs work fine on it right? Only problems being that you have to get x64 drivers which are already out for videocards and for nvidia chipsets anyways correct?

Kinda, some programs dont run on x64 windows, it just depends. Some have problems with it. Like one of the splinter cells couldn't install because of some incompatability with the default program files folder on x64 for 32 bit stuff was some weird name with () in it or some such.

For the most part though, yeah it works with programs. I still dont see why most people would bother though, in gaming so far there's no real differance (even the special 64 bit mode for farcry that adds graphical features its hard to tell any visual differance), and for anything else you have to have a specially compiled 64 bit executable in order to potentially take any advantage of it. I doubt most people have more than 4 gigs of RAM which would be one reason to get x64 windows..

The only technologically interesting 64 bit game I know of is farcry, because it actually adds some special graphical features if you have a 64 bit OS/CPU. There's a fair amount of benchmarks with that as well, in general from what I recall its mostly the same performance between 32 and 64.

We tried it at where I work as well and it is definately a pain in the rearend. Application support sucks too. It is a pain.

I built an all new machine and went right to 64. It's an Asus A8N-E with an AMD 64 3500+
The problem wasn't the hardware, it was Asus and Nvidia's drivers to set up a Raid 0 with data stripping between 2 harddrives.
