Windows Media Player

Just went to play a movie on Windows Media Player 10 and for some reason the picture is extremely light, almost like the contrast is all the way up.
Any MPEG movie i play is like this, but Quicktime movies play fine

any ideas?

Check the contrast/brightness/hue/saturation sliders. Make sure they're defaulted. Or, just switch to a different media player, like Winamp or DivX. 😀

Just reinstall or Restore before it happened....

Windows Media Player sucks.

Wow I'm glad I have my own opinion that's justified by using it for all types of features it offers

Maybe it's the new nVidia graphics drivers. There was a topic on this a while ago that fixed it, try searching for that. I think it involved setting all the color settings to "default" then hitting "apply" or something like that.

Go back to WMP 9. I found 10 to be problematic and buggy when i used it. Only minor things however, im much happier with 9.

It's not WMP , i'm sure of that from what he said. He also tried playing his files in DivX, & it does that same, because it's not WMP...

It's nVidia's garbage drivers.

It's been like two months, & they still haven't fixed this
Pretty sad.

What rock have you been hiding under? I suppose ATI has never had a buggy driver.....

The 77.77 official drivers on nvidia.com do not have the gamma bug. 🙂

Get DivX codec. WMP is trash but I am too lazy to get anything else.
I wanted to take a moment and compliment you on your exemplary Heatware list. 😉

Heatware? I have none, you mean eBay rating? Thank you. 🙂

Edit: And if you're being sarcastic... *shakes fist and glares*

Thanks n7, that fixed it

i downgraded from 77.77 drivers to 77.72 drivers (due to better performance in 3Dmark), so that was the culprit.
