Here we can discuss what we think about MS's new attempt at a media player. Its got QUITE a few things added.

They have new WMP types of encoding, they have WMP VBR and Loseless.


I'm just browsing the new things... This mini- bar is VERY cool

I think I like this player.... we'll see though

the enthusiast part of me is installing it. my more rational side hopes to god nothing bad happens... there are some very important videos that need to be watched

I'm more worried about Microsoft getting everyone reliant on WMP 9 and then forcibly springing DRM (Digital Rights Management) on everyone.. 6.4 for me, thank U.

how would they do that? the only thing they can do is enforce digital rights. meaning you should still be able to play normal mp3s, since they will not have any digital rights info. unless i'm mistaken.
 
hmm.... it needs TV-IN support.... or would this enter some illegal area if they inculded that? I would LOVE to be able to watch TV on that minibar
 
So how can I hide the control bar when I'm watching a DVD?

I'm trying it out with Blade II, but I can't get that damn bar to go away so all I have is full screen video.
