Hagbard:

I'm seriously considering a move to Linux or even getting a Mac,

LOL! Getting a Mac for stability? That's like cutting your leg off to stop the pain from a cut!

WinME came preinstalled on my Dell laptop and I swear I got a windows protection error about every third time I powered on the laptop (keep in mind this was with the default configuration with no changes at all).

I must have used it for no more than two hours total before I got sick of it crashing and hiding settings from me before I formatted the hard drive and installed 98SE. Yeah, I waited too long. I should have done it immediately after I got the laptop. 🙂 It has been fine since.

I have ME and love it. NO problems yet. I'm not one to blame operating systems as much as the operator of the operating system. Drivers, not the os are usually more to blame. Or how the OS was installed can be important as well.

I've been running Windows ME since it came out last spring. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. No crashing, no freezing, no BSOD's, no problems at all.

Too many people treat their computer like a dumping ground for files and dll's of all sorts and blame it on the OS when it performs poorly.
