Before you get too excited you have to also consider that video is probably just that - a very stripped down version of windows. We don't know anything about device drivers or anything else about the install - when I do a fresh install and streamline it down, my I only get through 1/3rd of a bar (the scrolling bar on startup) and it's in windows.. not much longer than in the video. I'm running on a 7200 RPM hard drive.

Yep, I'd have to see device manager and service being loaded to get a better feel for this. That said, it's pretty impressive but I don't boot windows that often that it'd be worth the $150+$80 for the convenience of saving 30s once every few weeks.

Well at one point they wouldn't work in RAID. If they've solved that problem two in RAID0 would be sufficient.

That's only 8 gigs though. You need far more than that. :)

I could live with 8 as an OS drive.

Then I'd find a nice PCI-E U320 RAID card with an external connection, an external SCSI enclosure with 4+ drives, & stuff my storage array in a closet somewhere.

I don't get why everyone is so excited. Personally my computer's on 24/7 and I reboot maybe three times a week at most. I'm okay with it taking 30 seconds.

It would most likely go into computers that will be turned on/off quite frequently.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, is this that gigabyte (thought you meant like 1000mb) thing that they only made a thousand of and sits in your PCI slot for power, has 4 ddr slots and connects via sata and emulates as a HD. 8 gigs max I believe. Very cool, but I think anand had a review of it about 6 months ago. Too bad it always needs a powersource. Then again, that's where nand comes in, not as fast yet though.

Anyone hear word on hybrid hard drives? Where they have flash memory acting like a CPU's L2 or L3 cache? Supposedly, all boot information and windows is stored there for a very quick boot time or to help speed it up. Not to mention speed general access to programs and such.
