I hope the douche bags at Microsoft finally get their act together.

Windows 7 SP1 has more bugs then my windshield...

Like little things like, when you delete a file,, you still see it you have to hit refresh then it dissapears.. It doesnt always happen but it happens!!!

Another one, unlike Vista , windows cant keep the thumbnail cache for all the icons,, everytime you open stuff or pics or videos it has to load the thumbnails again. Slow booting time. 3 to 4 minutes after I broke ReadyBoot and cant fix it now. The reason I broke readyboot was because bugs again. Whenever my OS would start some of the taskbar icons would not show although the app is loaded into memory and showing in task manager. Soo I have to keep rebooting until all the icons show up , So I was fed up , and somehow I deleted readyboot to the point I cant trace session it gives invalid path bs. so 1 minute boot time and 15 minutes HD thrashing is now 3 minutes boot time and you have to wait until the HD thrashes and puts crapola in the cache soo they will open up quickly....

Interesting, can't wait to try it out. I really hope the interface is better than what I'm expecting.

It a little tiresome to always here from the people that are afraid of Change and cannot even explain why.

With computers and related devices become more and more mainstream there is an obvious trend to move from the emphasis on Enthusiasts and accommodating more the Normal uses who do not care about what is under the Hood.

E.g., most users do not know what exactly is the state of Intel, AMD, nVidia, or the like, and which one of them is inside their computing devices. They just want their devices to work nice and Simple.

Windows 8 is an attempt to bridge the gap.

If the Metro causes One a psychiatric response, One can download the Preview and this app.

Then try to run the computer as running Win 7. Win 8 as “Win7 is really running better than Win 7.

I think Windows 8 is going to be awesome. I still have a copy of the Developer Preview installed on one of my WD Black drives in case I need to RMA an SSD and don't want to be out of a computer. It's solid. It detected all my hardware, installed and ran without a hitch. It played all my games, and the whole system felt snappier than in Windows 7. I can't speak to the "Metro" interface as that is really not meant for desktop systems in my opinion. I think it's a great idea for many mobile devices though.

I think a lot of people may just be freaking out because they don't realize that you don't NEED to use the Metro interface in Windows 8 on a desktop.

What is this about Windows 7 being buggy? I haven't had a hitch with Windows 7 ever. It has been amazing, especially when thinking of the years spent with 95, 98SE and XP. I guess people will always find something to complain about though, or blame the operating system whenever there is a problem.

I have the dev release, and haven't gotten around to installing it yet. That's how excited I am about it :^D

I do want to check it out. I have no intention of running it, but I like to keep up with what MS is doing.

Hopefully the beta is a bit more polished, which I'm almost sure it will be. Does anyone know if it will come in different versions like
Starter
Home Premium
Professional
Ultimate
or will it be more of a one size fits all deal? That's the one thing I'm confused about. Whether, you have to use metro or not, as it is, I don't see the need for windows 8 in a business environment. On desktops anyway.

No, not really. There will be some interesting features for techies (Storage Spaces) and native USB 3 support, but it's still fundamentally Windows 6.x, so there aren't any massive changes there. The gaming changes (DirectX 11.1) will be backported to Win7 anyhow.

You sound pretty anal, I have not noticed any bugs in my windows 7 install.

With windows 8 you will have a kick ass touch interface (have you even tried windows phone 7?) that you can turn off on your desktop pc and then you have windows 8 that looks almost exactly like windows 7 except is has better hardware support, uses less memory, and is faster...

I just upgraded to Win7 a year or two ago. WTF should I have to pay for a new OS this soon? My OS upgrade cycle is kinda on a 10-year plan. Call me a Luddite if you want. :p

If I were running Windows, I'd likely hit every other release. That's a decent amount of time. If they had something especially compelling, I'd break that, or if they gave me a free copy for some reason. I still like Vista, though I don't really use it.

Windows 3.1-1992
Windows 95-1995
Windows 98-1998
Windows 2k-2000
Windows ME-2000
Windows XP-2001
Windows Vista-2006
Windows 7-2009
Windows 8-2012

Aside from 00-01, MS has been on a fairly consistent release cycle. The timing is nothing new.

I agree about everything you said i played with windows 8 preview myself and when i ask someone how they liked it the first thing that gets attacked is its interface.

Me i sorta love the interface its different and when this beta comes out in Feb i will more then likely ditch windows 7 for 8 like i did vista for windows 7 when beta 7000 for 7 came out i never turned back.

Like you everything was installed and worked without a flaw but this motherboards initial drivers i must install via disc for the lan for 7 but windows 8 installed them the moment i was up and running which made me happy.

Gigabyte has some god awful drivers for its realtek lan on this disc which disables any large downloads till i update to the latest drivers which is half the battle but with 8 they are installed on bootup without all the hassle which tells me this os will deploy with little to no driver issues for most people.
