Yep. I had just set up a brand new windows 7 computer and decided to put it on. Then I couldn't install Adobe Reader thru their website, had to download manually. Same with Java.

Downloaded Windows 7 Ultimate x64 w/ SP1 integrated through Technet and installed it on a new PC. Haven't had any problems.

For some reason I thought this was out for a while.
Me & boss dude was getting our new/fresh computers & win 7 installs up to date. He noted he found SP1 to have slowed shit down.

It's always better to do a fresh install with an install that has the service pack integrated already.

I did and haven't had any problems.

Ugh. The update repeatedly failed to download, each time only moments after I clicked "Install." I finally had to manually start the Windows Installer service. This was after a fairly fresh reboot.

Of course, the error message in update history doesn't say anything useful to indicate this. Just the usual cryptic error code: 80200053

Only took five hours, 8-10 reboots, installing two fixes, my machine hanging for minutes at a time, and resetting my BIOS but other than that SP1 installed flawlessly.

I've had it for a few weeks. I wasn't goint to start using a freshly installed and activated SP0 installation with SP1 out there already.

Sheesh... What are your computer's specs? Was this a clean install of W7 with no prior updates? Took about 20min to update on my C2D rig, but I had all of the latest updates before SP1 so that could be why it didn't take so long.

That's what annoyed me more than anything. I have a very clean install of Win 7 from Aug, 2010. I kept up with security patches. No bloatware.

Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E Pro
CPU: Intel Core i7 QUAD CORE 860 2.8GHz 8MB 95W (Socket 1156 45nm)

Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD5750 1GB Silent
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Microsoft Security Essentials

was about to install it but then my laptop crashed. after reading this thread, i guess i'll wait a few weeks

I've done 5 pc's already....not one had a problem. This included two Win 7 installs that have been running continuously since Win 7 hit the retail market.
