Windows 7 Service Pack 1 just came out via Windows Update?

Are automatic updates supposed to install this? I haven't gotten it yet if that is the case.

nvm, I just noticed in my updates it is there with a dl pending status, but I have to select it to start downloading, it won't do it automatically. I must have only critical updates set to go automatic.

Got 7 running on my mom's 7 year old base model Dell (bought for $500 back in 04). I don't remember the specs but it's a lot slower than that P4 3.2GHz. I got tired of constantly reformatting it due to viruses and stuff. Figured she'd be better off with 7 if I could get it to work smoothly.

I upgraded the ram from 512MB to 2GB and 7 works great on it. It was nowhere near as fast as XP with only 512MB of ram, but once I added more ram it's just as fast as it was with XP now and she hasn't managed to break the install yet. Sure, aero doesn't work, but she doesn't care about that anyway. She likes how she can cycle through backgrounds. 😎
