Just tried the download again, still errors out.

This beta will expire June 1st, 2010.

That will be a very interesting test. I'm curious to hear how that works out. I have a MSI Wind running XP Home. I put another 1GB of memory (2GB total) in there and it definitely made a diff; but I've been thinking about trying Ubuntu in there just for kicks.

Curious to hear how your eeePC (same hardware essentially) does with Win7.

blah, been having a hard time getting windows 7 RC 64bit to install on my computer. Been getting read errors, can't remember what the exact message said. But I tried with two different burned disc, one burned at 16x and another one burned at 8x. stilled fail.. So I threw the install images and boot images on my server 2008 and used Windows Deployment Services. SO far havent gotten anykind of error messages.

You don't have to burn it to a disc, just use WinRAR to extract the iso and install straight from your hard drive

I got the x64 version..since its 64 bit it says its not compatible with my version of XP 32. So I burned the .iso to a disk, but when I boot from disk, my computer just won't let me..its weird. I know my keyboard works but when it says "press any key to boot from Cd/DVD" its like it isn't recognizing that I'm doing anything. Booting from disk is the only way this will work, using Daemon tools gives me the same non-compatible message as just trying the disk in XP.

I think I'll finally make a move towards 64-bit with this RC and see how it goes for me. I typically stick with 32-bit, but I want to make the switch, and now seems like a good time.

Guys, I know this may sound a bit stupid, but how do I burn a bootable iso using only tools given by vista business?

I used to do it with Nero, but I lost my copy 3 years ago and I don't want to purchase another one.

Did you get the RC or beta?
Do you subscribe to one of the MS services?

RC, about 1 1/2 weeks ago. No, do not subscribe.

I've been running the beta on my eeePC 904HA (stock 1GB) and it's damn nice.

I'm dling the 32 bit RC for the netbook, and the 64 bit for the desktop. I got the 64 bit no prob, and am working on the 32 bit.

Assuming it has the same tool, right click on the ISO and click on burn to CD/DVD. I have ultimate so I'm not sure which version it is on, but it should be on business.

I'm posting from Windows 7 right now and I love it. Its way better than vista and thats saying alot considering how awesome Vista was. Booted it up and I didn't need to install a single driver! It recognized my wireless and bluetooth right away without drivers. Its really that simple! I think microsoft has a hit on its hands :p

Download and install Imgburn and you will be all set.

Another plus to Windows 7 over Vista is W7 has ISO burning built in.

I didn't play around much with the beta but got a bit excited for the RC.

I installed the 64 bit version and am loving it so far.

I have it installed right now on my second partition, and I don't know if it's just a placebo effect, but it seems that most of the rare stuttering issues I had in some of my games under Vista x64 are now completely gone in 7 x64, maybe it relates to how better 7 recognized my hardware from the start, or how it deals with system resources... I don't know really, it's just an impression so far, although I can certainly make a difference between smooth game-play and game-play with occasional stutter (by the way I've tested with and without V-Sync). I've installed Dawn of War: Soulstorm, most of my Steam games, Quake IV, STALKER: SoC and Medieval II: TW, and so far the stuttering I sometimes had in Soulstorm and Shadow of Chernobyl is simply gone, or I'm making myself ideas, I'm still not sure.

Either way... stuttering or not, I like Windows 7, that's a sure thing for me, and the new Task Bar is... well, different, it'll take me some time to get used to it, I don't like being imposed change, usually, but this time I'm ready to impose the adaption that needs to be done on myself, I'll do pretty much anything that is needed to move away from Vista and completely get rid of my dependence on Windows XP, which I still believe is the best OS that Microsoft has developed (and from those I've tried, namely 95, 98SE, 2000, XP and Vista). It's too early for me to know if I'll actually prefer 7 to XP, but I certainly prefer it to Vista already, and that's one heck of a positive for me, finally a good reason for me to move on to newer technologies and OS features and capabilities.
