I only wish Microsoft would announce that there would be just one version of Windows 7 coming to market, Ultimate (Enterprise and Server can have their own versions)

Really you only have one choice when it comes to a home version, and that is home premium. Starter and basic are for emerging markets and you'll probably won't even see them on the shelves. However, yes, there should be only two versions: Windows 7 and Windows 7 Server imho.

Hey, is anyone else not getting sports scores in Windows Media Center? I've checked two machines now, both of them are failing to show scores on the Sports Scores page in MCE. They're showing the game time, as if the game has yet to happen.

Windows 7 looks like a good upgrade, better than I thought. Pretty responsive but still a bit buggy. I had explorer freeze within 3 minutes of using it just toggling the wallpaper theme things.

However I love the new interface changes like peek, the taskbar functioning as dock, Show Desktop button, able to change the wallpaper in one click, etc..

I wouldn't mind making it my main Windows installation when it comes out. Anyone know if we'll be able to upgrade an RC 7 installation to the full version yet? Also does the RC expire and when?

MD5?

The release you want to look for on usenet has the file name : ind-win7-7100-x64 or ind-win7-7100-x86

hashes for x64 are:

MD5: 98341AF35655137966E382C4FEAA282D
SHA-1: FC867FE1AB2E0A9796F9E4D155B44EA6998F4874
CRC32: 58FB2BE0

If you are having problems with the RC, do a clean install. Upgrade install from previous beta are not supported.
I wouldn't even suggest upgrades from other OS (xp, vista)

confirmed where? I had those same hashes from neowin a couple days ago. I went ahead and installed after i verified. But all i was going on was a post on a forum lol. Does a string of forum posts make it true?

The build number has been confirmed with MS: 6.1.7100.0 (winmain_win7rc.090421-1700)
The files are digitally signed and the signature is intact so nobody but MS put that build number on the file.

Unless someone went through and copied their 7100 files to an older build and compiled a new iso I'm 99.9% sure this is the real deal. I'll know the other .1% once they come back to work at Autdoesk tomorrow. Really very little changed from 7077, so if you have that installed I would not be in a rush to install 7100.

I think you mean NOTHING changed. 7100 was build 7076, they escrowed the build as an RC candidate and then built from 7077. Once '7100' passed QA it was certified as the RC build.

I've got it as my only OS on my laptop. Runs fine, looks great, and I haven't ran into any bugs yet.

The UI takes a bit of time to learn for me, since I used to use the classic start menu.

I was going to say nothing changed, but I knew the minute I did someone would post some readme file with a different date claiming everything was all new 🙂

Well so much for using 7MC on my HTPC. It's introducing and recording glitches in to programs it's set to record.:| I think it may be dropping network packets (my tuner is a HDHomeRun) which is no fun. Vista never had this problem.

anyone noticed that when you move files or when files should be updated in explorer it takes a few seconds? Vista was pretty much instant, this is annoying.

Kinda boring so far...no UI changes.

They aren't going to do a whiz bang new UI for final release.

Microsoft was going to have a big announcement which most people figured was free upgrade or UI changes when RC was launched.

Link?

The big news is that with Windows 7 they will provide you a VM type solution and a free windows XP SP3 install to use in the VM. This will allow them to say 100% compatibility. THe VM solution is called XRM I believe and will be hardware based.

No its supposed to be downloadable. It will NOT require a license. Logically that is the only way it would work anyways.

I can report that the Intel 855 chipset is still not supported in this version.

THat would be like hoping for support for nforce2 or 3. It's not going to happen, my friend.

I'm actually typing this on a old single core Athlon 64 3200+ that is housed in a nforce 3 mobo with a 6600GT and Windows 7 7077. It works just fine on nforce 3 chipsets as evidenced by this post.

(I have been having stability issues with my new build so today I finally packaged and sent the crap back to Newegg for refund and will be ordering new parts on Friday. Newegg has been awesome as usual in this process. For a week I will have to make this old single core machine make due.)

Why would it be? 😕

Because it's a chipset that millions and millions of people still use. :light:

The only thing missing is Aero, so i really don't see the big gripe from you on such a old chipset. Besides, most people buy a new system before upgrading to a new OS so there is little need to make Aero work. If it was such a big issue, Intel would have made working drivers three years ago for Vista.
