Windows 7 RC 7100 finished and leaked

I realise that it has been leaked and all but didnt they say the RC wouldnt be released untill the 5th of next month? Leads me to believe that there will be another release on that date. I have not tried windows 7 yet but I need to format soon and everyone has been raving about how much better than vista 64 it is so im thinking about giving it a shot. I mean itll work for at least 6 months anyways right?

Kinda boring so far...no UI changes.

They aren't going to do a whiz bang new UI for final release.

Microsoft was going to have a big announcement which most people figured was free upgrade or UI changes when RC was launched.

You the RC hasn't launched yet officially, so MS has time to make announcements if that's what they're going to do.

I donwloaded it and installed it, but have just one problem -- Windows Update/Microsoft Update which is built-in to Windows 7 will NOT update Office 2007 for me. It shows that the only eligible Microsoft products to update is Windows.

I never had this problem before the previous betas of Windows 7. Now I can't even get any program/security updates for Office 2007.

And this is a clean install.

More problems it seems in this RC than 7077

Trying to install Windows 7 and get hung up after clicking the "Install" button on boot-up using DVD. It loads for a bit, then tells me a CD/DVD Driver is required and can't be found. I've tried using the Windows\System32\Drivers directory but it says no drivers can be found.

Happens even when installing on thumb drive

But this sorta sucks i was about to try it out too. though i dont like putting so much trust into leaks. Is there any md5 or other verification this hasnt been modified?

I have it on my no.3 PC which is used for non critical stuff (play around PC).

Anyway IMHO I don't think 7100 will be final RC version before it goes live.

Windows 7 Build 7100 is RC, But Beware of Fakes, so be careful what you download.

It is faster than 7077 for me, even on a vhd install.

I think 7100 will definitely be the RC.. as it was the build mentioned on the MSDN blog entry about delivering a quality upgrade experience.

Aww the placebo effect. 7100 is 7076, 7077 was compiled from the same sources right after and released as a weekly while 7076/7100 was escrowed for QA.

Actually, I retract my previous statement.. for some reason, the vhd install i did felt faster.. but now that I have it on the actual hdd in place of 7077, it feels pretty much identical.

It probably is, although it's not as big of a deal as it would seem on first glance. They're basically just packaging VirtualPC with the business editions of W7. VPC was already free, so what you gain is a "free" XP license, and the integration is a bit better than VPC.

The vast majority of software already works with Vista, and what doesn't is usually driver related stuff that won't work well (if at all) in a virtual machine. All this is immediately good for is running a few nagging ancient business apps on W7. It wouldn't make a difference for the vast majority of home users, which I imagine is why it's not even included in W7 HP.

Do they provide for a way to nuke and re-install the XP VM image? Because you know that it's eventually going to get a lot of malware on it. Would suck to have to re-install the underlying Windows 7 too.
