It seemed like MS was saying in their release notes that are posted in the OP's opening post, that this was the RC1. Did i missread that?

Feel free to believe whatever you'd like but, this build has already been proven a *fake*. For more reading visit Win 7 forums or Win 7 news info forums.

Not sure what you are reading , but the build I am sitting here looking at is 7077. Nothing fake about it.

You said it was fake, it isn't.
If you read the OP with the link the MS blog, you will see they say that RC does not allow upgrade installs, guess what 7077 does not allow ?

Or how about this.
In the folder \sources\license\en-us\_default\ultimate is the file license.rtf which says:

MICROSOFT PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS
MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7 OPERATING SYSTEM RELEASE CANDIDATE
These license terms are an agreement between Microsoft Corporation (or based on where you live, one of its affiliates) and you. Please read them. They apply to the pre-release software named above, which includes the media on which you received it, if any. The terms also apply to any Microsoft
· updates,
· supplements,
· Internet-based services, and
· support services
for this software, unless other terms accompany those items. If so, those terms apply.

It still may not be the exact version number they release in a few days, but its pretty damn close if it isn't.

I guess i'll just post what everyone else is posting when seeing build 7077.
"Crap, and i just formatted and installed 7068!" :disgust:

I'll grab 7077, but i dont see me installing it for a bit yet, since 7068 is running great, and it takes too long to install all my stuff along with the OS.

If 7077 is the RC, then great!

I hope they at least have an animation for the network icon in the system tray, so i know when im connected for sure, for some reason, thats one thing that just annoys me thats still missing in 7068.

7105 is the retail RC while 7077 is the release RC. As of right now 7077 will be the official RC. It has to go through one more QA tomorrow morning and if it passes we should see it released officially to technet.

I was told to expect 7105 but then I asked when I would see it , was told that I probably would not receive 7105 that it would be 7077 because the other build was already progressing and 7105 was no longer the current build, it is somewhere beyond that now.

Still with 7077 nowhere on it does it show the word beta , everything now says Release Candidate.

This is coming from someone at Autodesk where I have been getting all my betas.

Really if you don't have to have the install right now I would wait till at least tomorrow afternoon to make sure that 7077 is the official release. I can't see why it wouldn't be, but you never know with MS.

I posted the topic because people are going to have to do clean installs or upgrades from vista, I wanted to give them a heads up so they had time to do any backups so they wouldn't be caught off guard when MS releases .

Nice.. if it gets put up on technet, I should be able to grab it at work. I think Microsoft is really going to knock it out of the park with this one. 7068 is almost perfect at home and on my work machine at the office.

Me too, i have 5057 too. I think it's not worth the effort to upgrade at this time

I just installed 7068 on Monday!!! ugh! 7068 is almost perfect though, it fixed some application problems I was having. I really wish Nero would release a beta that would run in windows 7. If someone has it working, feel free to drop me a PM.

Nero 8 Ultra is working 100% with my Win 7 - 7068 install, i had to do nothing special and it didnt complain about any incompatabilities during install either.

Disregard my PM.. didn't see that you explained it worked in Win7.

Well, it's almost perfect. WMP is still pretty buggy, but all-in-all, I'm really liking 7068.

7068, at least for me, was awful and a problem maker.
I just went back to 7057 which was totally stable on my mce pc.
Right away after 7068 my ati video was doing flaky things.
Then with 7068 the "failure to start" msg started coming up and the os
tired to fix itself but failed.
Went back to 7057 and ati video is back to normal, likes the ati
win7 drivers ati put out, and mce is very stable.
Going to a new rc# just because its a new rc# is not necessarily a good thing.
Im sticking with 7057. It works. Its stable.

No actual build 7077 is latest. From what I read I have been running 7057 for about month now runs good I love windows 7 now if we can get microsoft to release sdk on wtv format otherwise windows 7 will not be installed on meida center system. I have has some issue with windows 7 but that stems from from broken northbridge fan. Which I is now repaired

Normally, I'd agree.. but I need to flash the firmware on my vertex SSD to the latest version anyway.. so I may as well take the opportunity to load a new version of the OS :)

Im thinking ATI wrote their drivers for the 7057 build.
7068 and beyond might has some new video updates?
ATI's win7 drivers have not changed. So that may be the problem...?

The Catalyst 9.3 drivers have worked fine for me in 7068 x64.. what issues have you had?

edit:

Did you do an upgrade or a clean install?

edit2:

The 9.4 drivers are down right broken... they don't even install correctly..

9.3 is still perfect, though.

running vista until the official release of this.

Unless you're really adverse to reinstalling windows, you should definitely give it a shot. I've been dual booting 7 and Vista since the beta came out, and I've only booted into Vista for the sole purpose of playing a game that doesnt work too well on 7 (Fallout 3).

I wasnt planning on installing the RC either, since the beta is already solid and I hate reinstalling, but it looks like there will be enough changes that it might be worth my while.

I really, really, really hope there is going to be some multi-user license though. I'm hooked on Win7 and I want to upgrade all 3 of my PCs, but there's no way I'm shelling out ~$150ish a PC for it.

to me its just a waste of time since there are kill dates on any pre release version. i would never do day to day work on it just because there might be some critical bug. i do have w7 on a VM and after playing around w/ it it's pretty nice.

The kill date on build 7057 is 3/1/2010

So plenty of time to change to the retail.

I've Googled the crap out of this and I can't verify this date. Can any one confirm this or provide a source. Also, on a related note, is there any way I can view the kill date anywhere on my W7 build? Can't seem to locate it in any of the obvious places.

Start>run type: winver hit enter.

It will tell you the expiration date on the version screen.

So had MS release this to technet yet? I know its legit, just making sure 7077 will last for a little while. I keep hitting my bandwidth limit on giganews lol.

There are already new builds internally at microsoft.. there's no guarantee that 7077 will be designated release candidate.. it is one of many possibilities.

It is a nice build, though.

Can anyone whos gone from 7068 to 7077 comment on what they see different in 7077 over 7068?

7068 is running so well and trouble free, i dont wanna reformat and clean install yet if its not going to change anything but the build number on the desktop. :D
