Windows 7 RC 1 Build 7077

How are you guys getting WMP to play .mov files? I couldn't the last time I tried.

Yeah, same here. If I had the time to constantly reinstall stuff I'd prob give it a try, but from what I've heard these are still a bit rough around the edges.

You can do an upgrade install of 7057 over previous versions and all your files and programs are still there. Worked like a charm, and quick when upgrading from a flash drive

I get this problem with Media player and any X-files DVD. I get a 3/4 screen green box and sound. I kind of know where the menu buttons are so If I clicke there I can navigate and hear things, but no video.

It works fine with all my stargate DVD's and my m"mature content" dvds, but not x-files. What gives?

I haven't been able to get any HD-DVD playback with this build, any suggestions? PowerDVD 7.3 won't play blurays or hd-dvds, but ver. 9 will play blurays just fine.

You really can't at this point unless you are given a copy by a company to test . Or if you know someone who would be willing to let you download it from them or maybe they could burn a copy .

Yup, may not be as stable as Win 7 drivers, though.

Yes you can. Microsoft purposely speced 7 to be compatible with Vista drivers.

Yes on every thing except the video drivers. You can install vista video drivers, but it is not recommend. 7 made a few changes in that area, but both ATI and Nvidia have beta drivers on their sites that is fairly close to the versions for other OS.

Interesting...I'll probably still wait for the RC though, where I assume the same functionality will be present. Cant be too far off.

So upgraded 3 PCs - Two worked fine, one refuses. Tried it twice.

Thank god for WHS, otherwise I'd have to reinstall everything on my laptop.

So yeah, it worked, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone unless they had a solid backup.

noob question: does 7057 come in both 32bit and 64bit edition?

Yes it does (did).
2 weeks ago I found it on an ftp site someone posted the links for with access id & password in a forum that google found just by chance.
It was nice find the iso files in one DL location.
I grabbed the 32 and 64 7057.
Now I cant find the site. Someone must have got wise.
I installed the 64 on my mce pc, and am going to do the 32 on my netbook
tonight.

Not sure if i wanna try them yet. (havent tried since the original beta release)
Since my Vista 64 works great and i have a LOT of apps to install with a new OS.

i have it installed and the main difference is it recognized the wireless adapter on my motherboard(an atheros 5007) without any trouble.

i did an upgrade install and sofar flawless. everything appears to work. only warning i got was about the ati catalyst control center when it detected the install software.

I'm going to start using Windows 7 as my primary OS for my desktop. I've been using it as the OS for my laptop for... 3 months now. Very peppy, stable, user friendly, and relatively bug free despite all the crap I've thrown at it. I like it a lot more than Vista. So now I'm nuking my desktop Vista install and just moving onto Windows 7. Here's hoping the migration of my desktop is just as painless as with my laptop.

Typing this on 7068 32 bit. I would have waited for the 64 bit version, but I only have 2 gigs of RAM anyhoo. 7068 is running fine here and takes everything I throw at it well.
