I got it! Login and everything.

OK, which one do I want?
Windows 7 Professional, or Windows 7 Ultimate RC? This will just be for basic use, I wont even be playing video games on it or anything.

I believe the RC one will expire (stop working) next year, you want the Pro.
Thanks for the tip.
My expertise is really in DOS 5 and 6.

You from the "old school" too? :p

nifty, i may see if i can get in on this when i get paid in a few days. i can get all this stuff from school for free, but technically i cant use it after im no longer a student.

normally id just not care, or ditch windows altogether, but for $20 i dont have a good reason to do either

Installing now! (Posting from netbook.)

I never used Vista on one of my own machines. And I havent really kept up with this sucker, so will it roxor my boxors? Will it make me see god?
Or will it just be a nice little improvement from XP pro?

FUCK!!!
I cant upgrade from XP!
This will have to wait. I literally have hundreds of gigs of shit to backup before I can wipe my hard drive and start fresh.

Damn, I may have to toss all my pr0n. Thats about 250 gigs altogether.

Did an in-place upgrade on my Thinkpad. Ran without a hitch and took about 50 minutes to complete. Not bad! :D

That leaves me with 7 valid keys to play with. Wheee!

OK, is there something other than 'opting in' after you sign up that you have to do? They still haven't charged my card, and I still haven't heard shit from them.

Or just make a separate partition for your data on your existing HD, which you should always do anyway. There isn't much you can do if your HD fails, but there is no reason to lose all your data just because your OS crashes or you reinstall windows.

Got it installed!
This is........ different?

I will need to get used to Aero and the way Windows now hides shit from me. I think I may have to check to software forum for a list of useful Win 7 software. Avira isnt working right and I cant find all the drivers I need. But I am happy to finally have a stable, easy to use 64 bit operating system.

I found this on SlickDeals...Windows Server 2008 R2 is now available on DreamSpark (again, for students).

https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx">Click me!</a>

I had signed my daughter up for this over a year ago and it's still available to her. It's the 64 bit version and supposed to be based on Windows 7. There are guides that can basically turn this into a desktop OS (there are usually issues though like finding running Virus scanners, etc).

Better hurry because someone by the name of ACM administrator is going around posting on various forums stating that they will be removing Windows 7, other than the BETA, because of abuse. :(

Don't sweat it. The final iso when all is said and done is about 3gb. It's your standard RTM image.

Did you try the drop down listing on the software site? I still see all of the VISTA and XP PRO software listed there. Windows 7 has been removed though.

That's too bad.

I see 7 is in fact gone from the list.

However, my "orders" are still listed, download links are still there and so are my keys. I guess you will be able to access your stuff if you got it in your cart and downloaded them before they removed 7, but anyone else is out of luck.

I guess I squeaked in JUST under the cutoff and got my hands on the keys at just the right time.

So if I am a graduate student I don't qualify right? Also do they have Vista for download? I can't use W7 with my campus wireless network.

Not sure if you qualify, but they have Vista Business and Vista Enterprise available. I think 11 keys (various languages) available that work on all languages! :)

Did you not add all of them to your cart at first and then checkout?
