Windows 7 Login Issues

Hey,

My father in law is having some issues with his laptop, and I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this. Basically, the computer boots fine.. it brings you to the login screen.. you type in the password and then it just sits at the logging in window with the cursor in it's busy mode.

Here's a couple key points:

1) Only one user account has been created.
2) Tried to boot into safe mode and that causes the same issue

Any ideas? Does it need a reinstall, or is there some way to salvage this?

Thanks!

There is probably some spyware or something loading on login that is preventing you from getting logged in. If you pop in the Windows 7 O/S dissk and boot there is an option to restore to a recovery point. I would try that first.

Let me ask you a couple of questions before giving you an answer,

1. Were you able to Login to the system before with the credentials provided?
2. what was installed or changed on the system, that caused this issue?
3. What is your current system configuration?

Few troubleshooting tips that you could try...

1. When the system boots, press F8 Key several times till you are able to see the option, boot with last known good configuration,

2. If you had installed or did any changes to the system, see if you could uninstall the program via safe mode without networking

Thanks guys. According to him, he didn't do anything.. it just stopped working. It probably was spyware or something.

We did the restoration with the discs and all is well now.

Thanks for the help!
