I've win 98SE and now also win2k on my computer i thought it was supposed to be better than win98 but here it come i've been running UT in both of them and gess what i had the Det 3 in win 2k but in win 98 some older verion det 2 probably and the average fps at 1024x768x32 was 78(Win98SE)and 68 (win2k) plus it took 40%longer to load. Now that's money well spent!!!
 
When considering system stability, expandability, and feature sets, no other Windows product comes close to 2000. Framerates for some kid's stupid game is not a programmer's first priority for a business-oriented OS.
 
SOme kids stupid game? This game says alllloooottt. I was also trying to install my graphic card driver took me 30 minutes(det3) because it couldn't change it from the standard VGA. Win 98 took me only 2 minutes (incl. restarting). And a lot of stttttttuuuuuuupppppid bug everywhere i would need 2 pages to discribe them. By the way there is no big difference between NT4 and win 2k still the same. NFS4 didn't work!
 
You shouldn't expect to see a lot of your games work. When you want to play games, reboot into Win98. If you just want to do a lot of web browsing or work, use Win2k.

Yes, some kids' stupid game. Your framerates shouldn't matter when you take into account the stability of 2k compared to 9x.

From your posts, It's obvious to me that you've never used Win2k. It is not the same as Win9x. It should not be treated as such. Just because you don't know your way around 2k, and had problems updating your video drivers, It sucks... Uh huhuhuhuh.....
 
I believe your posts indicate that you should never have installed Windows 2000 in the first place. I don't really feel it met any of your needs as a computer user. You obviously aren't interested in the features that windows 2000 provides, just what framerate you can get in Unreal Tournament. Before you upgrade an OS, get all of the facts. There's nothing like the dissappointment of realizing you just wasted an afternoon installing. To address the video card issue, just because you had trouble dosent mean it is a bug in the OS, it just means you had some trouble. I installed several different detonators with no problems at all.
 
GladiatorMaximus, funny how most of us don't have a single issue. 99% of the problems you are having are more than likely user oriented 😉. This is a business OS not a gaming OS, frame rates were the last thing on Microsoft's agenda. People don't use this operating system to frag in Quake 3 most use it to WORK 🙂.

If you don't believe me i will describe a new feature!!!!
Mulimedia and Sound are now combined in win2K different in win 98 (believe me now!!!!!!!!)
Well I have go to admit i only used it for 4 hours but still so many problem in the first 4 hours???!!!!!!!
 
What's the problem with multimedia?

Eli: I used win2k for 6 months with 2 crashes, one of which was my fault. Seems pretty stable to me 🙂
 
I think Win98 &amp; Win2000 serve different functions,Win98 is better for gaming period &amp; Win2000 is better for General &amp; NT applications.

I have it installed too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm using it right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have Windows 95 OSR2 installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't booted up into it since I installed Win2k!!!!!!!!!!

I uninstalled Windows 98SE a week after I installed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
