Windows 2000 users......Do you use this OS to play games?

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to get a general consensus about Windows 2000 users and whether or not you use that OS to play games. I currently have a dual boot going with Windows Me and Windows 2000 and was wondering if win2k is sufficient enough to run my games good. It's kind of a pain having to switch over just to play a games. I'm gonna do some experimenting tonight to see what kind of performance i get, but what do you guys do? Thanks

Yep, as of a few months ago I converted over. Everything I've put in so far works great.
I got a significant boost in performance in Win2k after installing Directx8a...

Windows 2000 driver performance
"In the case of the GeForce2 MX's drivers, we once again could not be any happier regarding Windows 2000 performance. The Windows 2000 scores are identical to the Windows 98SE scores. In fact we have gotten the GeForce2 MX to produce higher scores under Windows 2000, proving once again that this is not an impossible task."

Win2K is L33t! 😀

Every game I've tried except for Daikatana(is that really a game or some sort of torture?😉) has played perfectly.

Big thumbs up over here for Win2K as a gaming O/S!

i converted over december of 1999 when it was released to manufacturing. The only game that i play that i couldn't get to work right is lemmings for dos. got lemmings for windows now and its fine. q3a, UT and counterstrike, diablo2, starcraft, fallout tactics demo, fallout 1/2, etc all work

Yeah i just ran a quake 3 timedemo in win2k and it was actually about 5 fps faster than winme.
How sweet is this, thanks a lot guys

Absolutely.

DirectX games, OpenGL games, Glide Games, even WinG games (Win3.11 gaming interface).

All the games work great.

Recently I have found that none of the GTA sieres games work 🙁
perhaps because of Win2k, perhaps because they are the unofficial versions.

aside from them everythings cool

Works great with Rogue Spear, Urban Operations and COE, Q3A, HL, CS, UT, Elite Force, Giant, MDK2, CM Rally 2, SOF, IGI. Oh wait, I can only remember so few.

I use win2k as my only OS now. Dumped NT4, Red Hat 6.2, and win98. Win2k is easy to use, stable, and very fast. For games, just make sure that you use a seperate user account configured as a power user to play your games with. A power user will turn off most services and allow you to have better performance in your games.

Good to see all the positive feedback, I was wondering myself. As soon as I upgrade mobo & cpu, I'm goin win2k.

win2k is awesome. the only problems i've had is q3 in smp, which can be solved with tweaking, and the rainbow 6 series.

Yes... Every game I have works great in 2000, save stupid NBA live 2001 which I just returned. EA is one of the few company's who barely acknowledge win2k's existence.

Win2K is fine for most games except games produced by EA. I dual boot, and never boot into WinME unless something in Win2K went wrong. I don't really play any of them shooting games like Counter Strike and Quake. I'm more of a Diablo and SC player...

My friend runs a Win2K pc and failed to realize that NBA Live is by EA... don't know why EA games don't work. Shouldn't they realize that people are migrating and they should recode accordingly?

I use w2k for everything except when I feel the need to do something alternative. Then I just reboot into BeOS for awhile. For the first timem, I can actually use all my hardware under that OS.
