Windows 10 reset error

Trying to reset Windows 10, by doing a full reset not keeping my files and I keep getting an error that "There was a problem resetting your PC". I'm reading around and seeing lots of people saying they've seen this but nowhere that offers any legitimate solution. If I take a Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft, how can I be sure my product key will be recognised?

Install to an empty partition. If it works delete the partition and fix the boot loader with EasyBCD.

The problem is the reset function is where I get the error. Just tried to create a bootable USB drive through the Media Creation tool and that didn't work either. I'm burning a disc now. Hope that works.

Yeah, shouldn't have any issues by using a ISO and doing a clean install.
MS does a hardware ID check now, no more keys/serials.

I don't know what was going on. Get the ISO burned, ran it and got nothing but a black screen. Installed again from scratch and the second time was fine. Really strange.
